Recently I reported that Science has disproven your soul.

But that report troubled my spirit.

So I’m retracting it.

** Makes retracting gesture**

I’ve changed my mind.

There are too many words in the source material.

Too many words.

Muddled thinkers often equate verbosity with wisdom.

They’re wrong.

The best ideas are expressed in a few simple sentences.

It shouldn’t require 6107 words to express 13 reasons for atheism.

The United States Constitution contains 4500 words (including signatures).

The “Sermon on the Mount” contains just over 2500 words.

Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address” is just 272 words long.

So…

If you’re trying to make a point, get to it!

I won’t slog through pages of rambling prose.

I’ve got better things to do.

Netflix, naps, and knitting are better uses of my time.

You think you need thousands of words to convey your convictions.

Think again.

Those myriad words mean you don’t understand your own point.

You’re muddled.

You’re confused.

And you’re rude.

Yes. Rude.

Rude for expecting me to sort out your gobbledygook.

Rude for assigning me the responsibility of locating reason in your claptrap.

Do you understand?

Good.

I made my point with less than 200 words…

  1. God used very few words to express His creation and His solution for sin. I agree with you John that few words are needed to make your point. Thanks for the reminder

  2. Another sign of muddled thinking is continuing to post comments without acknowledging that comments demonstrate order and meaning.
Hope you’re enjoying screaming into the abyss, Ark!
Get used to it. It’s how you will spend eternity.

    1. It’s not hard. Commenters simply must agree that the things they’re writing are examples of order and meaning in the universe. Then they can post!

Just saying, “I believe my comments are examples of order and meaning” will stop the moderation and be a big step toward chipping away the pride that is sending him to Hell.

        1. I don’t understand why anyone would be “proud” of a worldview that won’t let them make simple statements like “I believe my comments are meaningful.” Or “I believe the things in my book are true.”
But, I guess that’s the tragic thing about it. Pride leads to complete craziness.

          1. Right. But they spell “craziness”, r-a-t-i-o-n-a-l.
Then they assure each other of their shared enlightenment.

  3. I just checked out the “source material”.

    Ugh.

As a scientist and Christian, I find his attempts at unassailable logic (therefore making him omnipotent, or himself his own little god) bizarre. He makes weird and odd unsupported statements of what he believes are facts, but are really just his opinions.

His ramblings reminds me of a Ted Kaczynski manifesto.

The great thing is, someday he’ll know for certain.

    Great commentary, John.

    1. I hope “Ron” shows up and mentions how hospitals demonstrate that Christians lack faith in prayer. That’s the kind of bulletproof apologetics I hear from the scientific, rational heathen. I simply can’t write about ALL of it.

    2. Hi katy,
      I’m not a scientist or a christian… anymore anyway…
What kind of scientist are you and what is your field of education and work?
      -kia

      1. He needs to know this information so he can dismiss your comments. You won’t be an “expert” with the proper credentials.

If you’re up for another dose of muddled thinking, ask KIA what he believes now that he is not a Christian anymore.

        1. Actually jb, I was asking because she said she was a scientist and I am truly curious what kind of scientist. Are you assuming my motives? It’s not a polite way to treat a simple question. Let katy answer for herself, and let me speak for myself, thank you.

          1. Yes. I am assuming your motives.

I hope Katy answers your question!
And if you actually “speak for yourself” it will be a miracle…

          2. I always love when The Pastor starts sermonizing about what’s “rude” and how people ought to treat each other. Lol!

          3. And do you think the Pastor is “just curious” about Katy’s science credentials?

          4. He’s looking for a reason to ignore her. He won’t be able to sleep at night knowing there’s YET ANOTHER Christian out there who’s smarter than he was when he warmed pews. (And certainly smarter than he is now.)

          5. That’s what I thought too. He needs to pigeon-hole her so he can dismiss everything she says that doesn’t fall within her area of expertise.

What I don’t understand is why he bothers doing this. He refuses to answer questions anyway. Why not just post pictures of vegetarian lunches and responding to questions with “have a nice day”? That’s ultimately where he always ends up. I don’t get why he pretends to be interested in other people.

          6. It must be difficult to simultaneously hate the light and be drawn to it.

Subconsciously he knows there’s more to life than neckties and making sure Christians aren’t too “rude.”
