I like to read differing points of view.

That’s how I learn.

But it’s uncomfortable when my worldview is challenged.

Stuff like this puts my beliefs to the test!

I found 13 reasons this “Thinker” is an atheist!

A baker’s dozen reasons to not believe in God.

That’s a lot.

Among these is strong evidence that humans do not have souls.

I’m not kidding.

It makes me very sad.

…somehow.

I can’t say my soul is troubled…

…but this revelation bothered me a lot.

Compassion demands that I offer a disclaimer.

If you want to continue in your religious delusions…

If you do not want to see your faith burned to ashes…

If you choose to cling to your antiquated superstitions…

Read no further.

(End of disclaimer)

Scientific knowledge has advanced to the point where we can be very confident there is no soul having any effect on us.

And here is the science:

Game over, Theists.

No explanation required.

The evidence speaks for itself.

I’m furious that my Sunday School teachers hid this from me!

Instead of the 12 disciples, this should have been up on the flannelgraph.

But now my eyes are open.

Thank Science I know the truth!

Next time some radical Christian starts talking about Jesus saving my soul…

…I’ll whip out this formula.

Shut them down immediately.

The Bible has no rebuttal to this.

It pains me to admit I have no soul.

But I must follow the truth.

That’s what my heart requires.

    1. Muddled thinkers often substitute lots of words for good ideas. If you can’t express your point of view in a sentence or two then you don’t understand your point of view.

It is the height of arrogance to expect readers to plow through 6107 words of copy to understand my point.

      1. Jb, I didn’t say his thinking was muddled. Only that I can’t fully understand what he’s saying. The fault is mine completely.

        1. I didn’t say anything about you.
          It’s not all about you.

          And…LOL!
Do you believe the 6000 word essay is correct but you’re just not understanding it? You know the guy is an atheist so whatever he says must be right even if you can’t comprehend it.
That’s pretty muddled thinking, Pastor mike.

  1. “It pains me to admit I have no soul.”

I’d start with James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Barry White, Otis Redding, Al Green, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Percy Sledge, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder — and then branch out from there. 🙂

  2. Here’s my argument. It’s grammatically and logically irrefutable… 🙂

“When I met you, girl, you were down in the dumps
I thought you were, but didn’t give you no love
Now you made it, reached your goal
Now you’ve got the nerve to tell me I ain’t got no soul”
(“Ain’t Got No Soul” by The New Lime)

  3. Perhaps what the Thinker was trying to say is that an atheist “ain’t got no soul.”

“When I met you, girl, you were down in the dumps
I thought you were, but didn’t give you no love
Now you made it, reached your goal
Now you’ve got the nerve to tell me I ain’t got no soul”

  4. Upon further exploration and reflection.
I think I might have proposed the same reasons/proofs in another worldtube, but I could be wrong.

  5. For those of us not following the equation:
    1. Any non-metaphoric version of a soul requires a force that has to be able to effect the atoms that make up your body (lest our bodies and behavior be fundamentally explained purely physically)
    2. Core Theory (see the equation) rules out any possibility of particles or forces not already accounted for within it that can have any effect on things made of atoms (like people).
    3. Core Theory is true.

The remaining points the author attempts aren’t needed… #3. Makes the argument clear.

    1. #3 makes the argument clear…?

“Causality doesn’t exist the way we think it does” is a faith statement. It is suggesting that reality is different from how we perceive it. You (and the blog author) are preaching religion, not science.

That’s not a criticism. Everybody has religious thoughts.

  6. Well look at that! And atheist who, in a very timely fashion, has created 13 reasons to commit intellectual suicide! Looks like someone has been binge watching Netflix…

  7. Amazing. After reading the 13 reasons, I think his conclusion about the existence of the human soul is wrong, but I can really appreciate the author’s careful systematic proof of the existence of pride and arrogance.

  8. Amazing. After reading the 13 reasons, I think his conclusion about the distance of the human soul is wrong, but I can really appreciate the author’s careful systematic proof of the existence of pride and arrogance.

    1. You gonna keep your faith?
How typical. Blind faith over reasonable science. You Christians are so predictable.

  9. Wow, there were over 6000 words in that post. I don’t think it represents much danger to the faith, as most of the fundie morons like me won’t read past the introduction..I was disappointed in that chart, though.I even went over and looked at the original article. He really thinks science has disproved God? I still believe, and sorry to let you down LOL.
