A “sacred cow” is a belief or idea that is beyond criticism. You are not allowed to question a sacred cow. The cow is perfect, holy, and absolutely good.
The best way to identify a sacred cow is with criticism. The cow’s worshipers quickly rise to defend their idol when you attack it. Their defense will be a counter-attack on you. They will portray your criticism as an act of hate which justifies any response they make, including destroying you, your family, and all property within a 3 mile radius of your person.
You can also identify sacred cows by noticing who comedians DON’T criticize. Comedians make fun of everybody and everything – except sacred cows. When you hear a comedian say, “I’ve got no problem with (blank),” – the ‘blank’ is a sacred cow. The only reason to make an unfunny statement like that is fear of the consequences of butchering sacred cows.
Asking questions is another great way to find sacred cows. The cow will never be shown in a negative light. Simple, direct questions about a sacred cow will either be ignored or answered with a non-sequitur.
It is a mistake to think that sacred cows exist only in religious groups. Non-religious (secular) tribes have fields full of untouchable cattle. To locate them, just ask a question:

One of the largest sacred cows living in America is named, “Respect for All Religions, Cultures, Traditions and Values.” (That’s a long name, so I’m going to shorten it to ‘Universal Respect.’) This particular cow is worshiped by almost everyone who identifies as “non-religious” and a growing number of “religious” people have started making sacrifices to it. There are dire consequences heaped upon anyone who merely suggests that this most sacred of cows be slaughtered.
I’m feeling brave.
Let’s slaughter this cow.
The cow is a liar. It requires almost zero effort to notice that “respecting all religions, cultures, traditions and values” is impossible. Values, beliefs, and cultures contradict each other. When you claim to “respect everybody” you’re lying.
You cannot, for example, respect peaceful protests and riots at the same time. Neither can you respect charity and thievery simultaneously. You cannot respect the Christian faith and mock Jesus Christ at the same time. (In case you don’t believe that happens: click this.)
And Netflix cannot respect protecting the innocence of children and the production of soft-core child pornography at the same time.
Claiming to respect the beliefs of ALL people insults the intelligence of ALL people. Refusing to answer the question, “Do you support pedophilia?” is to answer the question, “Yes.” Assuming that I’m too stupid to figure that out is what happens after years of worshiping the sacred cow of “Universal Respect.” It makes you arrogant, ignorant, and wicked.
Yes. I said wicked. Worshiping Universal Respect requires you to regard good and evil as equals. You put righteousness and sinfulness on the same level. You can no longer tell the difference between honorable things and despicable things.
You write stuff like this:
“Amy, is an 11-year-old bouncing between the repressive culture of her conservative Islamic upbringing, where she is warned that “evil shows itself in the scantily clad women,” and the hypersexualized environment of Western culture, where images of adult women doing strip-club gyrations are emulated by tweens on social media for likes. The movie presents those images in order to critique them…
Sam Adams – commentary on the movie ‘Cuties’ for Slate Magazine
When Amy…finally perform[s] in front of an audience, [the movie] repeatedly cuts away to the disgusted adults watching them, some booing, some covering their children’s eyes.”
Notice that Amy’s conservative, Islamic upbringing is described as ‘repressive.’ She is ‘bouncing between’ her family that teaches ‘evil shows itself in scantily clad women,’ and the ‘hypersexualized environment of Western culture.’ Then, the movie presents THOSE (hypersexualized) IMAGES in order TO CRITIQUE THEM. It doesn’t seem to occur to Mr. Adams that the movie is advocating for those same regressive, conservative values that Amy is struggling against. These are the same values Mr. Adams describes as ‘creepy’ in the article’s title.
I can see the problem because I don’t worship the sacred cow of “Universal Respect.” The movie can’t effectively critique the sexualization of children by sexualizing children. To put it another way, it is impossible criticize ANYTHING when you’re also claiming to respect EVERYTHING.
CHRISTIANS: Do not worship the sacred cow of “Universal Respect.” It is a false god. Judeo Christian values are the foundation of Western culture. They deserve to be respected above others.

Sacred cows make great hamburgers, because they are so well fed.
Amen
