hands holding a brown prayer beads

Awhile back I quit trying to justify my faith to certain types of skeptics. I don’t mind explaining what I believe to people who are genuinely trying to understand me. By the grace of God, I am no longer burdened with the obligation to ‘respectfully engage’ with every smug narcissist who yells, ‘prove your god exists!’

The atheists themselves helped me understand the futility of responding to their demands. They say stuff like, “Even if you proved there is a god out there somewhere, you can’t prove to me it’s the god of the Bible!”

That’s exactly right! Their doubts are unassailable. There’s no point in wasting my time explaining my faith to people who have already decided my explanation is irrelevant.

The internet is chock full of apologists who leap at the chance to make logical, scientific, well-reasoned presentations to folks who are never persuaded by logic, science, or reason. I’m truly happy that I am not shackled by the belief that I owe something to the godless cynics.

Convincing an atheist that ‘a god exists’ is not cause for celebration. They now have the same faith as demons, except their faith doesn’t make them shudder. Faith in Christ gets you adopted into God’s family. Faith in ‘a god’ gets you nothing. I’m done with apologetics that lead to nothing.

(It is incorrect to summarize this post with statements like: “You’re saying we should never talk to unbelievers because it doesn’t do any good! You’re saying God never changes hearts!!!!”)

(James 2:18) Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
