I’m hearing women talk about empowerment and before I say some stuff that will undoubtedly be interpreted as anti-women, I want to say, for the record, that I understand why some of you ladies feel compelled to seek power. You’ve been indoctrinated to believe that power is a matter of will. You were taught that it’s possible to live life on your terms if you can muster the courage and tenacity to stand up for yourself. You’ve been taught to believe in self-empowerment.
At the risk of offending you for telling you how to feel, you ought to be overjoyed to learn that empowerment is not something you can control. Power, prestige, respect, influence, (whatever you want to call it) doesn’t come from you. So relax! You can stop trying to manifest power from within. (This information will save you tons of money on Women’s Conference fees.)
Humans (including Patriarchal men) have no power within themselves. That’s the reason we eat. We need to get energy from food because we don’t have an internal power source. I would suggest you ignore any seminar that claims to teach women how to generate calories from determination, ingenuity, and pride. I would also suggest that you dismiss books, conferences, classes, courses, and counselors that claim your own resolve can bring about empowerment.
You can only be empowered by someone else. So, if you are an empowered woman, you owe somebody a thank you and (brace yourself) that person might be a man. Your power was gifted to you from an individual MORE powerful than you. Are you bold enough to admit you’re not enough? Empowerment isn’t something to boast about. Rather, it’s a reason for gratitude and humility. Truly empowered women give credit to the source of their empowerment.
(Ephesians 3:16) I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
