The most recent mass shooter apparently wore a MAGA hat. This is great news if you think the deranged behavior of one person justifies your own deranged hatred. If you believe the existence of evil within the group of Trump supporters makes it okay (or even righteous) to fill yourself with the same evil, then you will be overjoyed by this most recent tragedy.

Your gleeful celebration makes it difficult to communicate. You’ll probably not comprehend what I’m saying as your mind is preoccupied with euphoria but I’m only responsible for speaking the truth. Learning is your responsibility.

The simplest way to express the truth is by modifying the insipid mantra, “Love is love.” While it is NOT true that anything a person does in the name of ‘love’ is actually love, it IS true that “Evil is evil.” Whether shooting up a school, or setting fire to a church, or destroying a Tesla dealership, or storming the capital, or hating someone for how they vote, or breaking an oath, or lying to a friend, evil is evil in whatever form it takes. You’re not better than a school shooter just because you don’t own a gun.

Celebrating evil is evil. Rejoicing when wickedness comes from ‘the other side’ makes you wicked. Period. Love does not delight in evil.

The good news is that God will forgive your wretchedness if you’ll admit to being wretched. That requires conviction which is painful and humiliating. True repentance won’t send you to social media post about your compassion and goodness. Repentance won’t allow you to judge anyone else. If you’re sitting alone in shame, crying out for mercy then salvation is close at hand. Soon, it will be time to rejoice!
