Lauren Daigle (who I’ve been told is a popular Christian artist) gave some theology during an interview.
She was asked, “Do you feel that homosexuality is a sin?”
This is an easy one!
No possible way to be wrong!
The popular Christian artist replied:
“I can’t honestly answer on that. In a sense, I have too many people that I love that they are homosexual. I don’t know. I actually had a conversation with someone last night about it. I can’t say one way or the other. I’m not God.”
Wait…what?
The question was, how do you FEEEEEL about homosexuality…
That’s a perfect question for a modern, westernized, theologically-weak Christian!
It doesn’t require you to know any doctrine!
You don’t have to be God.
Just tell em’ how you feel, Lauren.
When people ask questions like that…that’s what my go to is. I just say read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know, because I’m learning too.
Again…I gotta say…wait…what?
I assumed you at least flipped through the Bible prior to becoming a popular Christian artist.
But it’s not a problem.
Since you asked, here’s what I found in the Bible:
Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men…will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Cor. 6:9)
I’ll go ahead and say that homosexuality is a sin…
…regardless of how you feel.
Here’s something else I read:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.” (Rom. 3:11)
Remember, you asked me to tell you this…
Talking about Ellen DeGeneres, you said:
For me, it was really sad that their outlook would be, ‘Oh, because Ellen’s gay, she’s bad.’ That’s sad. It’s so sad,” Daigle said. “What people don’t realize is I went to Ellen and she is just a bundle of light. She is so joyful. She was so kind.”
Ellen is a sinner, Lauren.
You’re a sinner, Lauren.
I’m a sinner, Lauren.
None of us are “bundles of light”.
None of us.
Christians are supposed to know this already.
In fact – it’s the REASON to become a Christian.
…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Rom. 3:23)
You’ve made a career singing about Jesus.
Didn’t you ever think about why Jesus is worthy of song?

It seems unimaginable that she wouldn’t have had some wise person on her team help prepare her in advance for this question meant to cause controversy and put her on the spot. But obviously there was no preparation at all. Some talkshow or radio host or whoever did the same thing to Carrie Underwood a few years back, and she botched it, too. It’s an old game already – secular media putting a Christian celebrity on the spot with ‘do you think homosexuality is sin?’ Lauren Daigle should have been prepared in advanced with the help of her team to provide a wise and gracious response in the event of that quesion arising.
John I use to think you were cool. Saw your act a few times. Never ever will I consider listening to anything you have to say again. This was a pathetic interview you thru at Lauren. Perhaps it is clear to you how YOU interpret the Bible but I know one thing, God does NOT say turn your back on the homosexual community. So so pathetic. Love Thy Neighbor or maybe get to know them first John, then maybe you won’t have to love them. I’m sickened. I praise the name of Lauren Daigle and what she stands for. I praise how she helps so many hurting people in the world 🌎. She Rocks It! Good Luck with your career “they say you’re a comedian”…..hmmm
Thanks for commenting.
I’d like to kindly ask you to clarify some things.
Do you think “love thy neighbor” includes me?
Can you tell me where in my article I suggested you should “turn your back on the homosexual community”?
And where in Scripture did God give you permission to “praise the name of Lauren Daigle”?
Currently, I’m dismissing you as a flake. Reasonable answers to the posed questions will force me to reconsider.
Did I really just read “praise the name of Lauren Daigle”?
😯🤣
That’s either a very strange and confused individual or A BRILLIANT satirist!
Looks like you hit a raw nerve. And that raw nerve seems to have zero knowledge of the Bible or the biblical definition of love.
One of my favourite discoveries in the Bible was the Leviticus verse before the 2nd greatest commandment to love others:
Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. Lev 19:17
On the bright side, she did direct people to read the Bible for themselves to decide. Hopefully she heeds her own advice.
I am reminded of the old saying it is better to be silent and thought of a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. If your not sure just say you don’t know but will find out the answer and get back to me. Also don’t tell me to read something and let you know what is says so that I can give you the answer. I would say to Lauren please read Corinthians enforce you answer that question again. We are all sinners in need of grace
I think we need to stop judging other Christians, set down our bag of rocks, and perceive them with more compassion. It’s not easy to be in front of the media and interrogated and attacked. Then those Christians look back to their Body of Christ for some support, encouragement, and they get nothing but rebuke and criticism because allegedly they aren’t doing it right. We all want somebody else to stand up for our values on our behalf, and then we act like a bunch of armchair quarterbacks. My biggest obstacle in faith is actually other Christians and sometimes the church as a whole. True story, the libs will attack because you aren’t wishy washy enough, and the conservatives will attack because you aren’t out fighting their battles for them.
But it’s a good post John, well said. That sense of betrayal when somebody refuses to stand in the word is real too.
Do you think that “salvation comes from Jesus” is my value or is it a larger, universal truth?
The only response I would have to this John is that once we accept Christ into our lives we no longer have to identify as a sinner but identify with Christ. We are no longer subject to sin because death has no hold on us. We can be be made holy like God is holy; meaning being made complete in Christ. Once you know Christ do not identify yourself with your old worldly nature but identify yourself with the one true King! Keep encouraged!
When it comes to homosexuality and bible there is no simple answer…because God created men a women , that is the base of family.
Yes homosexuality is as sin, as cheating, lying, being lazy, killing, cursing, being jealous etc etc all those things are a sin too. Jesus came down and die for our sins, what we do and how we act is what makes good or bad people, we all are sinners, but most Christian’s look for redemption, while the rest try to justify their weaknesses. Botton line, if you don’t hurt another living thing, if you are a loving person, if you respect others, help, are compassionate and care. What your sexual preferences are is up to you, just don’t try to shoved to the world…I don’t see any heterosexual going in public and talking what they like to do behind doors . Just be who you wanna be without imposing your beliefs or your preferences
You beat me to writing about this!
I was going to point out that she said it’s not her place to judge because she’s not God…
… And then she judged that Ellen is a bundle of light, joyful and kind…
That isn’t “no comment” Christianity. It would be better to say nothing at all than to be a hypocrite.
Wow really??? So if I say you are an idiot am I judging you or giving my opinion about you???
When you wanna see things your way there is nothing the other person can say that won’t be wrong…this us my judgment of you…you a a narrow minded person
“So if I say you are an idiot am I judging you or giving my opinion about you???”
You are doing both. Judging means giving an opinion.
To avoid being narrow minded yourself, you should explain your objection to McMommy’s comment.
I’m not the one who said it’s wrong to judge. I think it’s great when people speak up for what they think is true.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Now, I pray that all of us work on judging RIGHTEOUSLY, as Jesus commanded.
Agree John….There would be nothing wrong with her stating homosexuality is a sin……but that we are to love everyone. That would have been at least speaking Truth AND love. We love people, we don’t excuse sin away because they’re bubbily pods of funness. It is God who says homosexuality is a sin, actually an abomination, as well as many other of the sexual sins, which He also says do cause more harm than many other sins. Lost opportunity to speak truth to a lot of people for sure. One of the reasons “Christian Artist” has been removed from my vocabulary……They are now “Artists who claim to be Christian” to me………
Let’s be honest though – each of us have “denied Christ” many times, mostly due to fear of man….However ours aren’t broadcast on national TV. ( Thanks Lord) Prayerfully hopeful Lauren will figure it out, cause she can sing the snot out of a song.
Tum
I would love to see someone sing the snot out of a song!
She had an opportunity and she blew it. That’s what happens when you mix secularist thinking and theology. Political correctness can destroy opportunities to present the truth. And “hippie Christianity” is all too watered down. Maybe she’ll get it right next time.
Hey John, love you, man. I’ve seen a lot of commentary on this the last couple of days. My opinion is that we as Christians need to drop our rocks and love more. Yes as a Christian for over forty years now. I know Christianity says homosexuality is a sin, along with many other things. But I will also say she is young and she gave a young answer. I see my son in the same boat. I refuse to condemn her for her opinion that doesn’t line up with mine.
The correct answer could have been. “We are all born in sin. We just need Jesus to save us from sin and death. Those that believe Jesus is the son of God and that he died for their sins and rose to life again will be saved if they repent of their sin.”
Condemn, no. Reprove, yes. Not for failing to line up with my opinion, but for failing to line up with God’s opinion. Christians, imperfect beings that we are, are called upon to both encourage and reprove one another.
No one is condemning her, the problem is this issue isn’t opinion. I don’t care what anyone’s opinion is on homosexuality. I only care about what God’s word says and it says homosexuality is a sin and it isn’t a gray area it is black and white, Old Testament and New. I am all about loving people that is in fact what we are called to do as Christ followers, but loving people does not mean we tell them that the wrong they do is ok. To experience the love of Christ we first need to recognize we are sinners, all of us.
