A common mistake made by prideful God deniers is that the only people who commit murder are religious people. They contend that lawless self-worshipers, never, ever, ever commit acts of violence. The heathen (according to the heathen) are peaceful, law abiding citizens with no selfish ambitions of any kind.
Since none of history’s notorious mass murderers are on record as saying, “This genocide was committed because of atheism,” the denizens of darkness don’t recognize the handiwork of their insidious worldview. These simple plebians are unable to convict a criminal unless the criminal confesses.
Imagine that the Highway Patrol was disbanded. No more police monitoring the roads. How would you respond when someone says, “I see atheists are causing accidents over which side of the road to drive on and how fast to drive in school zones. Oh, no…wait. That never happens.” In the atheist worldview, there is no Highway Patrol. They deny the existence of an ultimate law giver. It requires massive amounts of blind faith to believe that people will behave themselves when there are no consequences for misbehaving.
If there is no ultimate law giver to decide that it is ‘good’ to not kill your fellow atheists, it is foolish to be so smug. You’re just following the orders of your biological chemistry. A salmon doesn’t get credit for being kind when it doesn’t kill the grizzly bear wading in the stream. The fish cannot do otherwise. You’re no different. It is no great virtue to do what nature compels you to do.
It takes a special kind of cluelessness to brag about doing good while denying the existence of goodness.
(1 Timothy 1:8) Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

They were such logical Atheists that Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin got along quite well, for a while.
