If you have any interest in finding out whether or not you’re guilty of the sin of covetousness, ask yourself, “How much do I hate people who have more wealth than me?” There is a direct correlation between the sin of envy and the amount of anger you feel from just thinking about rich people.
Greedy online hypocrites want you to believe that righteousness is achieved by bitterly criticizing wealthy people. God is pleased by your disdain for individuals about whom you know almost nothing. The correct amount of money is whatever is currently in your bank account. Anyone with more than you is hoarding.
You can make character judgments based on material assets if you’re willing to be judged by the same standard. The reason you AREN’T a millionaire is because you’re lazy and irresponsible. Anyone who doesn’t live in a mansion is stupid. Your net worth is less than the CEO of a corporation because you lack drive, imagination, and courage. Falling behind on your bills makes you unworthy of love.
Does that sound right?
“John, you jerk!! It’s easier for camel to go through a needle than for rich people to enter heaven!!!! Wealth corrupts people!!!!!”
Yes. You’re right. Poverty also corrupts people. We humans are prone to corruption at every income level. We are ungrateful for what we have and angry about what we don’t have. I wrote this to remind you that sinfulness is one thing you have in common with billionaires.
(Psalm 112:1) Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

A wise man once wrote, “O God, I beg two favors from You before I die:
First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
For if I grow rich, I may deny You and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name” (Proverbs 30:7-9, NLT).
