(Philippians 4:10) Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Contentment is a gift from God.

If you have ever lived a few moments free from the soul-crushing, joy-stealing, rage-inducing trauma of envy and jealousy, then get on your knees and praise The Lord for lavishing His goodness upon you. If you have ever celebrated your blessings, thank God!

The denizens of darkness know nothing of contentment. Every second of their conscious lives is spent under the weight of bitter resentment. A seething hatred for anyone in a higher tax bracket is the only emotion they feel. Covetousness crushes the possibility of experiencing joy. They are incapable of gratitude.

Remember these pathetic, empty souls the next time you’re tempted to pass judgment on someone who has more than you. Remember these insufferable creatures when you’re sending invitations to your next Pity Party. Think about these twisted, tantrum-throwing devils whenever you forget that you’re undeserving of all the good things you enjoy.

Remember that not all greedy monsters are billionaires.
