But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord…

…so long as a popular celebrity does it too.

Let’s be honest.

Christianity’s main selling point is forgiveness of sins.

Which was great a few centuries ago.

…when there was such a thing as sin.

But nobody sins anymore.

If you think I’m wrong,

…you’re being judgmental.

And judging others would definitely be a sin if there was such a thing as sin.

Judging others is ALMOST a sin so I could ask for an apology but I’m not going to do that.

Instead, I’ll just forgive you.

Because I’m serving the Lord. I’m returning good for evil.

But please don’t get distracted! This isn’t about me. The point I’m making is that Christianity needs some help.

Since there aren’t any sins to forgive

…why follow Jesus teachings?

The answer:

Because Phil Robertson does!

And Chris Pratt.

And Carrie Underwood.

And (maybe) Bono.

And most NFL players point to the sky when they score points which counts as a confession of faith.

And lots of other people of cultural significance.

People who you see on T.V.

You know,

…cultural influencers with real clout

…people who can boost God’s popularity into the heavens!

The timing is perfect.

Since we don’t need Jesus to deal with things like homosexuality, adultery, idolatry and selfishness.

Every belief and behavior,

…so long as it’s sincere

…is blessed by Almighty God.

So in order to keep the Christianity relevant,

…God has given us celebrities!

Hallelujah!

Why do I trust Jesus?

Because all the cool people do!

  1. 🙄 The only thing I need written on my name tag is forgiven. Not my sin nor my notoriety. Everyone’s name tag at church should be sinner.
