The reason people say things like this about me: “The point is that [you] comes across as having a snobbish attitude and being a d***,” is because I don’t talk like Shane. My style of evangelism does not employ flattery. I don’t stroke the egos of people who hate Jesus in hopes that my ‘winsomeness’ will soften their hearts and drive them to repentance. Contrary to the opinions of some, it’s not because I’m a snobbish d***. It’s because I believe what scripture says about those people.
(Psalms 53:1) The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.
The Bible (not me) says God deniers are fools. There is nothing ‘rational’ or ‘reasonable’ about a fool. I’m reluctant to contradict God’s opinion of corrupt, vile people even though that attitude is snobbish. One of the things I learned from Jesus’ example is obedience to the Father makes you the enemy of fools. Attempting to make friends with fools is foolish.
(Proverbs 24:1) Do not envy wicked men, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.
Reason and rationality are gifts from God. We literally cannot think without God’s grace. How can I call anyone ‘reasonable’ who actively denies the source of reason? Gushing about the wisdom of a fool is madness masquerading as respect. If you think your flattery will show the fool his need for redemption, you’re not wise. There is not a single example in scripture of sinners turning to Christ after being assured of their awesomeness by a saint.
Brothers and sisters, stop flattering the people who deny Jesus Christ. The fools will call you a snobbish d*** but so what? Irrational, unreasonable opinions don’t matter.
(Isaiah 26:10) Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the Lord.
