Secularists talk endlessly about how much better off mankind would be if we would ditch religion. Psychologists write articles to say stuff like:

“On nearly every sociological measure of well-being, you’re most likely to find the more secular states with the lowest levels of faith in God and the lowest rates of church attendance faring the best and the most religious states with the highest levels of faith in God and rates of church attendance faring the worst.”

Nowhere in the article are any of the ‘sociological measures of well-being’ defined but I don’t want to get distracted by trying to understand the argument so I’ll just accept it as true. The key to well-being is the eradication of religion and since religious beliefs are taught, we can get rid of religion by getting rid of education.

We start by raising an illiterate generation. When reading ceases, there is no reason to continue writing. The use of symbols (like the alphabet) will stop because nobody will be able to interpret those symbols. That is precisely what it means to be ‘illiterate.’ Eventually, our minds will lose the ability to process anything except tangible material. The only reality we can think about will be what we can detect with our 5 senses.

Symbols are necessary for conceptualizing abstract ideas. Religion is chock full of abstract, metaphysical, ideas. When society is no longer held back by abstract, metaphysical thinking, religion will disappear completely. So will mathematics and art. So will honor, loyalty, empathy, kindness, and love.

We’ll be much better off, don’t you think?

(Job 34:14) If it were his intention and he withdrew his spirit and breath, all mankind would perish together and man would return to the dust. “If you have understanding, hear this; listen to what I say.
