man and boy

It’s been suggested that we need more good, masculine role models to steer young men away from the influence of Andrew Tate. The data suggests that the number of role models for becoming Andrew Tate is holding steady at one (1). The number of role models for non-Tate masculinity numbers in the tens of millions. Adding a few more names to the list of people-to-be-admired isn’t going to make a difference.

Anyone who has ever been selfish will tell you (if they’re honest) that sin is a lot of fun. It feels good to live with no regard for others. Morality is a buzz-kill and the fun stops the moment you let your conscience speak up.

I understand the appeal of a guy who says, “Live however you want. Make your own rules.” I would eagerly become his disciple if I didn’t know he’s lying. Alas, hundreds of role models taught me to distrust the advice of self-worshipers. Some of my role models showed me how to suffer.

Someone suggested that we need a ‘Conservative Andrew Tate’ which is an oxymoron. It’s like suggesting we need cooler fire or warmer ice cubes. Andrew Tate with ethics would not be idolized by sinful, foolish boys. They have no interest in wisdom or discipline. Fools are only attracted by foolishness.

There are plenty of good role models for young men. The question to answer is whether or not you are one of them.

(Romans 2:7) To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
