What is a Humanist? A humanist is a person who thinks wishing makes dreams come true. They believe that our ‘capacity for compassion’ guarantees we will prioritize the needs of others over ourselves. They pretend that humans instinctively tend toward ‘goodness’ and ignore our enormous capacity for selfishness.

“John, you jerk!! Humanists want to be good people!!! What do you have against good people!!!??”

I have nothing against good people. My problem is with liars. Specifically, I don’t like wicked people trying to trick me into believing they’re good people. Humanists demand that I work toward a ‘more tolerant society’ but can’t tell me who gave them the authority to make that demand.

If I had been born yesterday, I might be able to believe that humans have a ‘desire to do good on its own merit.’ But since I’ve been a participant in the human experience for many decades, I know our species is not primarily motivated by our ‘responsibility to promote flourishing across all frontiers.’ We mostly want our self to flourish.

And I know that thieves, slave traders, murderers, abusers, tyrants, and all other forms of diabolical evil-doer will not cease their criminal activity simply because some doe-eyed Humanist says kindness is a result of ‘rational thinking.’ There is, in fact, NO RATIONAL REASON to allow my inherent capacity for compassion to dictate my behavior when my inherent capacity for selfishness is more personally satisfying.

So I can commit myself fully to self-gratification, doing nothing to assist my neighbors and the Humanist can do nothing but shake her head. The only incentive I have for following Humanist ideals is that I’ll gain the approval of Humanists. LOL!

Jesus was the only good human. Other humans are only good when they imitate Jesus. Anyone who claims to be good without knowing Jesus is deceived.

1 John 2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
