It doesn’t matter if you’ve ever heard of a band called “Tenacious ‘D’.” They have LOTS of fans already and that’s why it made headlines when one of their founding members, Kyle Gass, wished out loud that the next attempt to end Trump’s life would be successful. If the band wasn’t famous, nobody would have heard what he said.
If nobody heard what he said, there would be no outraged backlash. Without the backlash, the band would not have canceled their tour. If the tour wasn’t canceled, Kyle’s management agency would not have dropped him. If his agency didn’t drop him, he would not have realized the ramifications of his reckless ‘joke.’ If he didn’t realize his mistake, he wouldn’t have issued an apology. Fortunately for Kyle Gass, he is famous (even though you haven’t heard of him). The public serves as his conscience.
Deceived people lack discernment. Sometimes this is called, ‘not having a filter.’ Their consciences are seared. They look like grown-ups on the outside but they have not mature in wisdom. Like children, they say whatever pops into their heads and have no clue how their words affect others until everyone starts yelling at them (or canceling their tour). This is the only time in their lives when they feel something that could lead to repentance.
So, what should we do with Kyle Gass?
If you’re a Christian, the answer is easy. You forgive him. Jesus doesn’t allow us to hold grudges, especially when we weren’t the ones offended. Kyle’s stupid comment wasn’t aimed at us. Righteous indignation toward Kyle is just as sinful as his stupid comment. Remember, the only reason your sins aren’t making headlines is because you’re not famous.
If you’re a deceived, ‘non-religious’ person, then you can do with Kyle whatever benefits you. Like Kyle, your morality is determined by public opinion. You can treat him in whatever way earns approval from the majority. Don’t worry about right and wrong. You need only concern yourself with what’s popular. Use Kyle’s downfall to your advantage. Maybe you can take his place in the spotlight! That would be awesome, wouldn’t it?
(1 Timothy 4:1) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

Christians probably had very little to do with cancelling Kyle. Sad thing is that even his partner seems to have abandoned him.
Sorry Tom. Wishing death on someone for purely political reasons deserves “cancelling”. Good riddance
I doubt very many Christians list to Kyle’s music.
