Some atheist described Christianity as a death cult. The god-haters do stuff like this because they are joyless, empty souls who only want to drag other people into their misery. By God’s grace, I am immune to their toxic rhetoric and occasionally I engage these creatures in conversation because bringing light into darkness fills my soul with joy.
I asked, “What’s wrong with being in a death cult?”
A child of the Devil replied, “Other than it’s fictional and fundamentally immoral?”
Like many Christians, atheists don’t understand their professed faith. Whenever any god-denier references morality, they’re telling you they have no clue what they actually believe. They will demonstrate their ignorance if you ask them to.
I asked, “Immoral, how?”
The intrepid slave to sin said, “Morals are a collective agreement among a population. Being in a death cult is a tacit admission that you only want to sin, i.e., violate societal norms without consequences. ‘Not perfect, just forgiven’ is the embodiment of this mentality. No, it’s not OK.”
If you truly believe that morals are made by a population’s collective agreement then whatever the population of a death cult agrees upon is morally correct. It shouldn’t bother you that your population has a different moral code than say, the ancient Hebrews. You shouldn’t have a problem with any Old Testament morals since that population agreed to them. Whining about Christian beliefs or rituals is a ‘tacit admission’ that you don’t believe your own orthodoxy.
But notice what’s really bothering the wretched worker of wickedness– violating societal norms WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES. The doer of Satan’s bidding is infuriated by the concept of forgiveness. What enrages this person is redemption. It’s a ‘tacit admission’ that sin deserves consequences and the ugly truth is this ghoul doesn’t want those consequences escaped.
So…who is really in a death cult?
(Psalm 68:18) Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
