achievement confident free freedom

If you’ve followed my writing for awhile you may already know that one of my favorite resources for pagan incoherence is this guy (who I can’t tag because I’m blocked). I’ve not found a more prolific creator of nonsensical gibberish.

I was shocked (shocked I tell you) when I saw this post. It is inexplicably truthful. I’ve suggested in the past that pagans are not capable of saying true things so I will admit that was wrong. I made a mistake. Obviously, pagans can blunder into truth from time to time.

It’s true that people ‘adopt a theology and a Jesus who fit their fears and fantasies.’ That’s exactly what the cartoonist does! He makes a living selling a fantastical Jesus to his sycophantic flock made-up mostly of embittered ex-Evangelicals. His version of Jesus never says anything that contradicts what they already believe.

Before Jesus ‘dared’ the church to love, he defined and demonstrated how to love. He loved us without our permission or approval. There was no mandate. He wasn’t ordered to give up His life. Nobody is ever worthy of His sacrifice.

The Jesus in this drawing is not the Jesus described in the Bible. The church in the drawing is not the church that belongs to Jesus. Both are conjured from a diabolical imagination that is divorced from the only source of wisdom and goodness.

I gotta give credit for speaking truth. This is a theology that perfectly fits with depravity.

(Romans 5:8) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
