Remember John Wayne Gacy?

He is usually remembered as a clown who entertained at children’s parties.

…not.

Gacy was a child molester and murderer.

He is remembered as a loathsome creature who buried 33 victims in his basement.

He was executed in 1994.

Here’s my question:

What would it take to convince you that John Wayne Gacy was the Son of God?

Take a minute before you answ…

…oh, you’re done already.

And the answer is, “It wouldn’t happen in a billion years.”

That’s pretty closed minded but I’ll accept your answer.

Do you remember Jesus Christ?

He is usually remembered as a criminal who was executed for breaking Jewish laws.

…not.

Jesus Christ, for some reason, has been worshiped by millions of people around the world for over 2000 years.

So here’s my question:

How did a disgraced Jewish criminal convince people that He was the Son of God?

People have offered speculations like:

I should imagine the threat of burning in hell for eternity unless you love and worship God was enough for a superstitious ancient and uneducated people.

But that’s stupid.

The threat of Hell wouldn’t make anyone worship Gacy.

Other speculations include gems like:

It’s amazing what a good Publicity Officer and a dumbed down (uncritical) desperate populace can achieve.

Again, stupid.

Are you dumb enough to fall for publicity like this?

Do you crave something to worship and adore?

Do you have a superstitious itch that needs scratching?

Well, we’ve got a god for you!

Be a disciple of John Wayne Gacy!

He was arrested and killed by lethal injection BUT…

Don’t let that worry you.

Trust your superstition!

No matter what you’ve heard…Gacy was a great guy.

Before you answ…

…oh. You’re done again.

So you see the problem, huh?

Suggesting that Jesus was invented by people is really, really, really…stupid.

It takes A LOT of faith in the gullibility of ancient people.

If there’s NO WAY you would attend the First Church of John Wayne Gacy…

…there’s NO WAY a criminal who was executed in the first-century could amass millions of disciples.

Unless He was more than just a criminal.

  1. “It wouldn’t happen in a billion years.”
Correct, evidence suggests that gods do not exist, and this is not a closed-minded opinion like believing Jesus was the son of and God without the deceitful influence by humans and certain details appear to confirm this.

The first time Jesus was written about was decades after he existed leaving the manipulation of Jesus as a historic superman wide open. Jesus never wrote anything apart from one unquantifiable letter during his 30 odd years on Earth, no statues were erected to him, he was not a feature of what were efficiently documented Roman records or prominent scholars at the time, documents that mention Jesus name are unproven, details of his life are mirrored from older religions and the Jews rejected his claims of being the son of God just as we reject claims from every idiot who claims they are reincarnated as Elvis or John Lennon.

In modern days we have had all sorts of people claiming to be a prophet, Jesus or a god, some of them established churches and had huge followings, some led hundreds to their deaths. Most of us now do not fall for the rhetoric. However, we have Trump supported by many Christians claiming he was ordained by God into the presidential position and many will go to their grave believing this, so it does not take much imagination as to what would have been possible to fool ancient superstitious non-scientific people.

Claims of prophethood, Jesus or a deity have existed in many cultures through history, including Christianity. Check out the lists here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_messiah_claimants

    1. Your first line indicates that you have completely misunderstood the point.
I didn’t read the rest of it.

  2. On the other hand…
When people are gullible enough to believe ancient people were THAT gullible, maybe there’s something to this theory?

I’m just saying–since I know the source of the stupidity you quoted above–maybe the reason they think it’s possible is because they are, themselves, stupid enough to worship Gacy?

    1. I considered using your “double gullibility” point but opted not to because I was afraid it might be like two negatives equal a positive.
