How many people have crashed looking at this billboard?
It kills!
Millions die every year!
It says so on a billboard.
So I’m sure it’s true.
Still, I wonder…
How do we know?
Vending machines kill 13 people every year.
I believe it.
Wouldn’t take a forensic expert to make that call.
“We found him squashed under the candy machine.”
Obviously, vending machine killed him.
“Wait! He was a smoker!”
Well, now! That changes everything!
Smoking isn’t a good idea.
Neither is rocking the soda machine back and forth.
Both can cause harm.
But in my admittedly amateur opinion,
It seems impossible to identify a tobacco related death with certainty.
…unless you find the body squashed under a cigarette machine.

Agree 100%. People that have never smoked are ruthless to cigarette smokers. I know that it is just ignorance, but society has done everything they can to keep smokers and non-smokers apart. They have outright disallowed smoking in many public areas or else cordoned off the “smoker concentration camps” in public areas that still allow smoking at all. All because of these messages that cannot be proven. I usually just remind the brazen non-smoker that breathing oxygen will kill them too.
While I don’t advocate tobacco use, and I get a horrible sinus headache whenever I am in a restaurant where the smoke free section is too close to the cloud, I do find it interesting that this same number is quoted on a website that proclaims the following:
“It is now generally acknowledged that the global climate is changing, as the earth becomes warmer.”
If it’s on a website, it must be true! I live in Indiana. It’s July. I turned on the heat in my van because I was freezing while driving my son to work this morning.
