There is nothing extraordinary about the way thiis story started. A guy was walking on the side of the road, carrying two giant duffle bags. So my brother-in-law Bobby picked him up and gave him a ride to the next town. Dropped him at the gas station. The guy turned and said, “Thanks for the ride.” Then he left. And Bobby drove home. Nothing extraordinary about the way this story ended. Nobody changed the culture. Nobody came to know Jesus. Nobody impacted the world. So why did I write about it? Because most stories are like this. Ordinary. Mundane. Unremarkable.
Every once in awhile something memorable happens. Sometimes an event takes place that changes our lives in some meaningful way. But that doesn’t happen often. And it probably won’t happen today.
It is much more likely that today will be a series of forgettable events than a milestone. A week from now, you will struggle to recall even one significant thing that happened during your waking hours on this day. So take note of this ordinary, unremarkable day. It’s good to make mention of the ordinary. Since we spend most of our time doing it.
Lord, let me know my [life’s] end
And [to appreciate] the extent of my days;
Let me know how frail I am [how transient is my stay here].
Psalm 39:4

what lori said. she is brilliant.
I don’t think it’s ordinary. It’s not ordinary anymore for people to go out of their way to help another. Bobby did what he did without thought as to what was in it for him. He did it to help another person have a bit better day. I belive he showed the love of Christ to that man. “with every act of love, we bring the Kingdom come”
