I’ve seen you posting about those awful rich people so I want to tell you a few things about riches which you will ignore because it’s more fun to complain than to learn. You prefer to misery to wisdom.
First, the only power your boss has over your happiness is whatever power you give her. When you cannot be happy unless you’re making $15 an hour, then your boss has TOTAL control over your quality of life. You give her that control. Your unhappiness is your fault.
Second, when your happiness depends on having a certain amount of money, you’re never going to be happy. You spend all your time comparing yourself to people who have more and feeling jealous. Jealousy robs you of joy no matter how much cash you have stuffed in a mattress.
Third, the reason you despise rich people is because you think they’re all like you would be if you were rich. You think rich people are stingy, selfish, narcissists who don’t appreciate their wealth. You think that because YOU are a selfish narcissist who doesn’t appreciate your wealth. You sincerely believe that having less money than your boss automatically makes you a good person. When you don’t appreciate small blessings, you’re not going to appreciate big blessings either. You deserve none of the things God has given you. If you can’t think of a single reason to say, “Thank you,” then why in the world should God give you more stuff?
Finally, the most important things in life cannot be purchased with money. You think this is just a thing that rich people say to help them sleep at night but you’re wrong. When you spend all your time wishing you could afford a better life, you are literally WASTING your actual life. Greed is a prison without bars. It’s your choice to remain in your cell.
“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
(2 Corinthians 9:10)
