The age of consent in Mexico is 12 years.
This isn’t great news for those of you who like your sexual partners to still be breast feeding…
…but it’s a step in the right direction!

Atheism also gave us Karl Marx and Socialism. Marx wanted his mom to die so he could get his inheritance, he despised the poor, was a raging racist, and abandoned his illegitmate son for political gain.
I wrote about the age of consent on my blog years ago, from a slightly different perspective. I argued that eighteen isn’t a magic number, and it’s not listed as the “age of adulthood” anywhere in the Bible. (Keep in mind that Mary was very young when she was betrothed to Joseph.) Too many Americans think that 18 makes a person an adult, just because that’s how we define it in the West.

Of course, that does NOT mean we “should” lower the age of consent. It just means we’ll have to discuss the morality of sex before we can decide what’s right/wrong. And, unfortunately for Atheists, they have nothing to explain why we should have the goal of protecting innocence in the first place.
And the atheists are made conspicuous by their absence in the comments section.
Atheists don’t comment much here anymore. They are cowards. I don’t blame them. I’d be ashamed to publicly admit I’m an atheist.

Uhg! Awful. Many of us have been predicting this very thing for decades now. A lot of people in the US still don’t realize that the very concept of “childhood,” is a Christian concept. We put small people in this state of grace for 18 yrs, providing them safety and cover until they mature. In much of the world that does not happen at all. Children are forced to work, not educated, left to fend for themselves on the street, or preyed upon sexually. That happens in the US sometimes too, but we are horrified about it because it stands in such stark contrast to our Christian values. In many places kids are digging through garbage dumps, forced to work in brothels, and being tried and convicted, executed even, as if they were adults. It’s heartbreaking, it’s really tragic, but it’s the truth, it’s what you see when Christian values are absent.
And yes, I have indeed seen some appalling arguments suggesting pedophilia is just a lifestyle choice and should be respected. I think not! I think that is a hill many of us are NOT going to be retreating from.
