More than once I’ve heard atheists say, “Everybody is born atheist!” I’m not certain why they say it. I guess, in their muddled minds, they’re proving some sort of point. Right on the heels of the ‘born atheist’ quote I’ve been told, “Religion is taught!” This is also (I assume) intended to drive home whatever important point the atheist thinks they’re making.
Equating your philosophies with those of children is a bad move. If you spend any time reading influential works, you’ll notice that none of the authors are 5-year-olds. That’s because, generally speaking, young children don’t write well. Their minds aren’t yet able to think logically. They need to be supervised to keep from destroying themselves so compiling books on any subject is way beyond their capabilities.
They need to be taught.
“That’s what I’m saying, John! You jerk! If you didn’t teach your kids to follow your religion, they wouldn’t know anything about it!!!”
Right. That’s also true for the toilet. It’s true about reading. It’s true about using silverware. It’s true about tying their shoes and zipping their coats. My kids were taught LITERALLY everything they know. In other words, education replaces atheism.
You go ahead and keep telling me that everybody is born an atheist. I may remind you that newborns don’t believe in Charles Darwin but that doesn’t mean Darwin is a myth. Or, I may just laugh because children like you say such silly things.
(Proverbs 22:6) Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
