So, you’re afraid someone might accuse you of brainwashing your kid. You’re terrified that passing your theology to your progeny might get you scolded by some anonymous Facebook troll. You’re worried that somebody might tell you that indoctrinating your kid with religion is child abuse.
Well, you live in a culture full of nitwits so you shouldn’t be surprised when you heard stupid things from time to time.
Raising children properly requires non-stop indoctrination. Only a fool thinks children can be left alone to ‘find their truth.’ Leaving a child alone in a car for a few minutes is neglect. It is nothing short of abuse to abandon your child’s mind for multiple years.
Depraved people love to mock Christians for ‘brainwashing’ children with our ‘superstitions about our invisible sky fairy.’ The ‘non-religious’ want us to believe that indoctrination is a sinister trick employed by the church to perpetuate our toxic dogmas. At the same time, we’re supposed to believe a three-year-old decides she wants to be a scientist without any influence from the adults in her life.
“John, you jerk!!! There’s nothing wrong with a little girl wanting to be a scientist!!! GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING BOYS CAN DO!!! YOU CHAUVANISTIC JACKASS!!!!”
Right. But that’s not my point. The point I’m making is that little scientists (either male or female) are taught (indoctrinated) their beliefs. Little scientists learn from grown-up scientists. Little Christians learn from grown-up Christians.
Pagan children are taught to worship themselves just like Christian children are taught to worship Jesus. Don’t let anyone tell you that humans are ‘born atheists.’ Humans are born ignorant about EVERYTHING. What they become is determined by how they are indoctrinated.
To be clear, you WILL teach your children SOMETHING. If you decide to leave them completely alone to figure things out for themselves, that will teach them that you hate them. If you teach them that God created them, on purpose, to be part of an eternal plan, then they’ll learn that they are loved beyond their ability to understand.
(1 Timothy 4:6) If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
