This is Terry.*
Isn’t he adorable?
Terry is divorced because his wife was a cheating bitch.
She was a Baptist too.
His self-esteem is in the dumper.
He needs advice.
Scratch that.
He needs compassion.
But not ANY compassion!
He needs a specific kind of compassion.
The kind of compassion that doesn’t come from a veterinarian.
Don’t suggest that Terry see a vet!
He needs Compassionate Affirmation.
Affirmation that he played no role in collapsing the relationship.
Affirmation that he is a victim.
Affirmation that loathing religion is justified.
“You’re a good boy, Terry. Yes, you are!”
There.
I’ve ‘loved on’ Terry.
Like the Bible says to do.
No judgment.
No criticism.
I didn’t even mention that Terry has heartworms.
He’ll be dead in a month.
He doesn’t want to hear that now.
His self-esteem is already a shambles!
So I’ll just be kind.
I’ll just tell him what he wants to hear.
That’s what Jesus would do.
*If you are in the habit of becoming outraged by the mistreatment of characters online you need to know that Terry is fictional.

I got mad at a dog once because it got loose and tore up my vegetable garden.
You know, the one I had been slaving over all spring and all summer.
His owner called the police.
I sat there in awe as the police defended the dogs absolute right to destroy my garden.
I don’t think being a policeman in this day and age is what it used to be.
John,
What Terry needs is to gather around himself a bunch of other vet-denying dogs. Surely they will know what to do! He may not get a solution, but at least he can search fruitlessly with company. Or move to Missouri. Because everyone knows Missouri loves company.
And he should probably be neutered. No more Baptist she-dog problems for him after that!
Dave
I’m sure I’ve heard this story of Terry somewhere in this corner of the internet before…
Bwaaahahahahahahaha!
Fictional. Right. Wink, wink. Say n’more!
LOL! Thanks for the chuckle. Sometimes I think dogs are smarter than people. I’ve never see one wallowing in vain imaginings and mourning their perpetual victimhood. That’s totally a people defect.
We can take all that emotional baggage and project it onto our dogs too, actually make them crazy and neurotic just from trying to deal with us.
Terry needs the Great Physician. He can fix everything.
Quit jamming your invisible skydaddy down Terry’s throat.
Ha! So true. Too bad we can’t just shoot Terry with a tranquilizer dart and get him the care he needs. Apparently we can do that to animals who don’t listen to reason, but we frown upon doing such things to people. 🙂
