birds eye view of people on beach during sunset

Every horror movie contains a scene where the murderous creature chases the hapless victims to a point where they must decide whether to run outside or upstairs into the attic with no exits. There is always at least one person who runs into the attic, slams the door, and crouches down behind the dresser. Guaranteed, that person is a Climate Change advocate.

The people who talk about “caring for the Earth” are the most terrified, hysterical people in any group. They are certain that our planet is dying because humankind is actively destroying it. They believe they alone know the horrible truth that all life is coming to an end.

It would be okay with me if the Climate Change people were content to wear sandwich boards with the message, “THE END IS NIGH!” but there seems to be no fulfillment in panicking by themselves. They want credit for “activism.” They insist on calling their fear, “compassion.” And they insist that I join them in their dread.

It would be okay with me if Climate Change people drastically changed their lifestyle to keep the planet alive but they keep trying to change MY lifestyle too. They want to make laws that infect me with their fear. They want to require me to join them in the attic. I don’t want to be locked in a dead end room with a terrified person. I’d rather face the axe murderer on my terms.

I know the difference between concern for self and concern for the planet. Everyone who feels strongly enough about saving the Earth to mention it on social media is really concerned for themselves. Climate activism is selfishness. It is a flimsy attempt to make abject terror appear to be the Greater Good. When the terrified people in horror movies make decisions, they’re always wrong. Forgive me if I refuse to call those folks heroes.

Then they would put their trust in God

and would not forget his deeds

but would keep his commands.

– Psalm 78:5
