This is a post intended for Christians only. If your worldview is not shaped by biblical ethics, skip this article. You’re not going to understand anything in the following paragraphs and I don’t want to deal with your ignorant comments. Do us BOTH a small favor and move along.

WARNING: This article contains some graphic descriptions.

Have you canceled your Netflix subscription yet?

I understand if you forgot. Maybe you don’t use the service and your subscription is for someone else in the family. Or maybe you get all your information from media sources that lean more left than the Tower of Pisa in a mirror. If that’s the case, here is a review that more closely aligns with your religious convictions (which, again, are shaped by ‘Christianity’.)

For the record, I canceled my Netflix subscription without watching the film, “Cuties.” I’ve seen enough clips and read enough reviews to be confident in declaring the film exploitative. To be specific, it abuses children.

WARNING: This is the graphic stuff I was talking about…

I want you to imagine a little girl that you know. Imagine your child or grandchild or the child of another family member or friend. Picture that little girl in skimpy shorts and a tight half-shirt that exposes her belly. Picture the little girl doing pelvic thrusts on the floor. Can you see it? Good.

Now imagine a man with a video camera moving in for a close-up of the little girl’s butt. The camera followers her butt in a slow, seductive circle. Then the camera operator slowly moves the camera around to record her gyrating crotch. Can you see it? Now answer this question: “Do these images disturb you?”

That’s all you need to know about ‘Cuties.’ It is full of scenes that feature a camera operator leering at children while they perform provocative dances.

“But…’Cuties’ denounces sexualizing children!”

Perhaps you’ve read some commentary from the darkness. The enemies of righteousness have written thousands of words justifying their abuse of children. These sinister forces fill the internet with headlines like this one:

“‘Cuties’ Doesn’t Advocate Sexualizing Young Girls—It Condemns It”

Anna Menta – Decider.com

Do you believe that a good way to condemn child abuse is to film the abuse of children? No? Me either.

Child abusers hope you’re an idiot. Netflix is counting on your stupidity. But Christians have the Holy Spirit which gives us wisdom. You know evil when you see it. You know the production of this film required countless acts of wickedness.

Indifference toward evil IS evil.

God expects us to imitate Him. He tells us, straight up, “Be holy as I am holy.” We don’t let Christianity affect our lifestyle anymore. Christians have allowed paganism to corrupt our efforts to be holy. We’ve subconsciously rewritten God’s commandment as, “Be tolerant as I am tolerant.” That’s why you still have a Netflix subscription.

You don’t approve of child porn but you’ll tolerate it. ‘Cuties’ is just one film and you’re not planning to watch it. You think holiness is simply ignoring the child abuse that your money paid to produce. Your monthly Netflix tithe supports a ministry of unholiness.

“What can just one person do?”

I know you feel powerless. You’re just one person. Your single Netflix subscription is a tiny drop-in-the-bucket of a billion dollar industry. Canceling your subscription isn’t going to stop Netflix from grinding out wickedness. So what’s the use?

You were not commanded to, “Be holy as others are holy.” If you are the ONLY person who cancels Netflix, it’s still the right thing to do. Holiness is not a group project. You don’t imitate God to gain cultural influence. You imitate God to move closer to righteousness.

What can one person do? One person can act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. One person can stop supporting child porn.

“Then what should I do with the money I was giving to Netflix?”

Give your Netflix money to me. I’m producing content that encourages holiness. I’m pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-family, and pro-Jesus. And I need your support.

I’m not a multi-billion dollar industry. Every dollar I get makes a BIG DIFFERENCE to me. Your support has a HUGE IMPACT on my effort to produce material that encourages people and glorifies God.

Here’s the subscription page. You can support me for as little as $5 bucks a month. That’s a shamefully small amount compared to what you spent on Netflix…

  1. I am so angry about this movie. Please don’t watch the movie just to see if it is as bad it seems because that looks to netflix like another viewer. I hope the anger and protesting that many of us are doing is not a plus to Netflix, as free advertising. Netflix disgusts me now.

  2. For those who still don’t see what’s wrong with this movie “Cuties”, change the example to something else. Need help? Allow me. Imagine someone making a movie denouncing killing/murder and wanting to show how bad it is. So for the final scene of the movie, the director tells the lead actor to shoot the “villain” with a loaded gun. The actor playing the “villain” dies on-set and on-camera from his wounds. Does killing your actors on camera justify the cause of “why it’s evil to kill people”? I don’t think so. And that’s why I don’t have a subscription to Netflix. Instead, I give my money to JohnBranyan.com. You should too.

  3. I haven’t watched this movie, but I did watch Ben Shapiro talk about so I know enough about it. I think what this movie was trying to do is fine and at its heart is a good message. I believe that message is children shouldn’t be hyper-sexualized. Unfortunately, I think this movie did the very thing it was trying to discourage. I understand that to truly show how despicable something is sometimes you have to show it happening, but these are 11 year old girls. They don’t know how to think for themselves, they are going to grow up and see images of themselves doing disgusting things. That’s a horrible thing, but some good could still come of this. People may see this and realize that child sexualization is disgusting and a real problem in the world. However, in this case I don’t think the ends justify the means.

  4. If I ever had a Netflix subscription, this would be reason enough to cancel it.

Supporting John and other content creators like him is an excellent use of my resources.
