We head over to the Farkas household to play board games! If a board game was in the woods and nobody was around to play it, would it still be fun? Tabby explains why bad lighting is good for decorating. Then we figure out what groups of animals are called. (Do you know what to call a group of giraffes?  We do!) Then the girls discuss some bad job experiences which may or may not have happened depending on who is listening to this.

Then the Peaches and I discuss putting blog commenters into the spam folder because it makes them FREAK OUT.  Then, Peaches shares her crazy theory about how God can change his mind. (It may be my crazy theory too but don’t tell her.)  I’m so full of contradictions that it must mean I’m sophisticated. Then we overthink whether or not it’s possible to overthink things.

My dad has a hard time trusting calendars. Some atheists see his point. They’re both insane.  Then we talk about how people are way better than animals. All animals. Not even close.  We put out a call for some input from you listeners!  Carl, give us a shout!

  1. I was actually pleased to hear some Australian animals thrown in the mix with the “what you call a group of animals” conversation. XD

My siblings and I play Pandemic from time to time, but our current favourite is Taboo, or Bible Taboo. Some of the descriptions from the young ones are absolute clangers.

Thinky Thinkington, please tell me that’s a BattleBlock Theater reference! That aside, I’d love to see you do a conference thing on how to deal with trolls, or “how not to be an egotistical jerk”, or “how to use brain-thoughts without being called names by atheists” or “unapologetic apologetics” or something of your blogspace nature. Of course, Australia is a bit out of the way for your tour, but I’d watch it on YouTube if you uploaded it later.

  2. Hey I was waiting for a plug for May For The Heck with John/ John’s thinky thing seminar near the end there. Appreciate you clarifying some things. it helps to hear some of what is written in the blog and comments in spoken form I understood some points better.

  3. So, after listening one nagging question stuck out – what did you end up playing for game night? If it was LoW, did you use the Scoundrels of Skullport or the Undermountain modules, or just vanilla?

    1. YOU KNOW THAT GAME!??

You have raised your status considerably. We played vanilla LoW because there were some newbies.

Then, we played One Night Werewolf because my kids won’t play Roll for the Galaxy with me.

      1. I’ve not played Lords of Waterdeep, but have heard of it. And I own One Night Werewolf but haven’t gotten to play it yet (though I’ve played plenty of the original). I got really excited when you mentioned 7 Wonders. Love that game! Have you ever played Dead of Winter or Pandemic? Love those too.

        1. We have played a lot of Pandemic.

You ought to try One Night. We like it better than regular Werewolf because it’s faster and nobody gets eliminated and has to sit out.

      2. Hmm, your kids sound lame if they don’t play Roll for the Galaxy ^_-. At least they played Waterdeep, which I would play more often that Roll for the Galaxy. My family is generally stuck on Ticket to Ride, though I can sneak a few other gateway games occasionally. I wouldn’t even dare bring out Waterdeep with them… I’ll have to get them used to a few more rounds of Shadows Over Camelot – which they have come around from tolerating to kind of liking.

I should also confess that I found your podcast after listening to your appearance on the Dice Steeple, haha.

  4. You should use the heathen’s words in your act somehow. A little C. S. Lewis, a little of your park bench monologues, a little diminutive pigs (Ahhh! A new twist on the old Three Billy Goats Gruff story!! Play up the trolls.)

And don’t worry about stealing their words. Since you deconverted, nothing wrong with stealing. Nothing morally wrong, that is. 😉

  5. I haven’t listened to this yet but I will later tonight.

As far as certain blog commenter and spamming goes, I am a big fan. Many of them deserve no attention at all, even negative attention and scorn is a waste of time.

      1. I haven’t always been John. I entertained Ark, Zande, KIA and many like them for quite a while until it became too mind-numbing to keep doing.

It’s fun to read through their comments on other blogs, in a train wreck sort of way, but I personally don’t deal with it anymore.
