I dunno…Maybe there’s no reason that belief in God is plummeting. Maybe you lost your faith because of unseen cosmic forces. Perhaps the tilt of the Earth produces cynicism. Or maybe 5G towers drive people out of church. I’m just speculating.

I know that you shouldn’t blame ‘Science’ for your paganism. That would be like blaming arithmetic for the price of gasoline.

I’ll throw this out so you’ll have an excuse for hating my guts. Maybe you didn’t actually lose your faith in God. Maybe you never really believed in the first place. Your testimony about ‘years of devout Christian faith’ is wrong. You were not a Christian. You were a Disney Disciple.

The Disciples of Disney believe that wishing upon a star makes dreams come true. They think giving their heart to the Earth makes it possible to paint with all the colors of the wind. They trust Fairy God Mothers to defeat injustice. They know that death is vanquished by a kiss. Although most adults will assert that these beliefs are ‘just for fun,’ Disney Disciples really do believe in magic.

And I do too.

The universe is filled with inexplicable wonders. Stick a seed in the ground and a plant will grow from it. That is pure voodoo. Tiny spiders construct elaborate webs without taking a single lesson in weaving. Wizardry on display! It is impossible to observe reality without sensing something mystical at work. Disney Disciples ignore real magic to chase fantasies.

Disney theology teaches you to be discontent with everyday magic. It’s not enough that your heart beats, your lungs breathe, and you experience consciousness. You are encouraged to yearn for more. You wish to control the weather, or move objects with your mind, or talk to animals, or bring people to life with a kiss. Disney taught you to be disappointed with God’s creation.

When you learned that Disney’s magic is a lie, you mistakenly concluded that supernatural reality doesn’t exist. Kissing a princess won’t bring her back to life. But Jesus rose from the dead (without a kiss). God has demonstrated His mystical power to create life and you refuse to worship Him because Zeus is a myth. Ditch Disney’s fairy tale magic for the real thing.

(Ezekiel 13:20) ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds.’

  1. Excellent analysis of Disney Theology.

Fairy tales are old. There is nothing especially wrong with fairy tales, but we do have to be careful we do not let entertainers use fairy tales to teach children lies. We also must be careful that educators help children to distinguish the gods of myth and the One True God. Unfortunately, we have often failed on both counts.

  2. John, I’ll have to read this over a few more times before I fully understand. Thx for the encouragement to trust Christ and the Mystery of God’s creation.

  3. I think the hardships of everyday life bring people to God and keeps them there.

However, today, being fat, dumb and happy turns God into a buzz kill. And if “happy” isn’t really happy, there is always medication to brighten up the day.

In America “happy” people are brightening up their day to the tune of 100,000 dead by drug overdose every year.

People are also stuffing their faces with food which also serves as self medication. Many of those obese people med Monster COVID over the last two years and were either killed or crippled.

Karma ain’t nuthin’ compared to God’s wrath.
