If you’ve spent the past few days living your life in a productive and fruitful manner, you missed the big, big, big, story about Drew Brees waging war on LGBTQ(rstwxyz) people. His vicious hatred is summarized by the following quote which he uttered with his own mouth (trigger warning):

“I want to encourage you to live out your faith on “Bring Your Bible to School Day”, and share God’s love with friends.”

Drew Brees – NFL Quarterback / Instigator of Hate

I would link to the original video but I can’t find it anymore. All I can find are videos featuring Brees apologizing. Even the website sponsoring the video has scrubbed it. Apparently, the Holy Spirit has convicted someone of something. The only other explanation is cowardice and I just can’t believe that’s what’s going on here!

From what I pieced together, LGBT people are upset for some reason. Whenever these people get upset it’s because Christians are trying to assert some aspect of their faith publicly. Carrying a Bible into a school is obviously an act of aggression. You should ask yourself, “Is this what Jesus would do?”

Of course the answer is no. Jesus never offended anyone. He taught his disciples to “turn the other cheek” and “go the extra mile”. The implications are clear. If anyone is upset with you – back down, apologize, and keep quiet. His disciples demonstrated this teaching over and over again. Their meek compliance was the reason they were always getting throw into prison, flogged, and executed. When the choice is between pleasing God or pleasing people, the Bible clearly commands pleasing people.

On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.

1 Thessalonians 2:4

So leave your Bible at home on “Bring Your Bible To School Day”. We’ll throw away our light to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the those in darkness. Let’s cower together in submission to pagan outrage and trust God to bless our ministry of humility!

  1. I’d say it’s a good time to bring your bible to school. Nothing like letting others known what you really believe and why you believe it. Nothing to be afraid of besides the difference between reality and religious fiction.

    1. Just watched the video. There wasn’t anything offensive about what he said at all. Of course some of the things that the bible encourages you to “live out” may be very offensive and even dangerous if truly “lived out”, like slavery and killing of those who serve other gods, practice homosexuality and the imaginary “sin” of witchcraft… but hey, let’s be honest. Most Christians have no idea what is in their bibles and have very little intention of finding out, much less “living it out” in our modern world. Let them bring their bibles. Let’s allow the conversation.

  2. I recon it may have something to do with the thousands of years Christians have persecuted homosexuals and continues to this day. don’t you?

  3. Sharing God’s love with friends?!?!? The outrage! I can see why people were so offended.

I think Stalin used the same tactics (in principle) with anyone who made him feel uncomfortable. Although, it was usually the Gulag, death, or both, for them. But I always admire the LGBTQ(etal)’s tolerance.

    1. I believe he was being sarcastic when he wrote that. Yes, JB knows that Jesus was regularly offensive. If he wasn’t, there would have been no reason for him to be crucified 🙂
