I gently explained to a group of Progressive Christians (i.e. pagans) that every moment they exist is proof of God’s love. I was then asked (less gently) to explain rape and kids being tortured in blood diamond mines.

FAIR WARNING: Never ask questions that you don’t want answered. If you desire to keep clinging to the argument that God is unloving because there is evil on Earth, stop reading right now. Retreat back to your unholy oasis where the truth won’t hamper your progress toward eternal darkness.

The humans who inhabit God’s green Earth, are not lovable creatures. They are rapists (for example) and they force children to work as slaves in diamond mines (for another example). None of the evil doers are acting in accordance with God’s commands. In fact, refusing to obey God is the very definition of evil.

ALL the humans who inhabit God’s green Earth are sinners. The spirit that drove a person to commit rape is the same spirit that caused the rape victim to lash out against her parents, or slander a girlfriend, or shoplift, or kill an unborn child…or even lie about being raped.

“John, you jerk! Rape is real! How dare you say it’s not!!!!”

Yes. The same spirit that twists my words into something I didn’t say is the spirit that breeds violence, hate, and death. My point is, that is NOT God’s spirit. You cannot blame God for mankind’s sin.

“John, you arrogant, self-righteous JERK! If God is all powerful, why doesn’t he just put an end to evil!!!?”

You’re still suffering from the delusion that you’re different from rapists and diamond mine operators. You want God to punish everyone except you. That’s not going to happen. He doesn’t show favoritism (Romans 2:11). When the wrath of God is poured out, it lands on everybody.

God sent Jesus to keep you from being destroyed by your own wickedness. While you were still raping and hacking the arms off children, Christ died for you (Romans 5:8). If you weren’t blinded by your arrogant self-righteousness, you would recognize that as the ultimate act of love. Would you die to save a rapist? Didn’t think so…
