Does God care if we ignore His rules? – Scratch that. I’m too far ahead of you already.

Does God even HAVE any rules? It seems another influential Christian artist is teaching that God doesn’t care what you do:

“None of us are a surprise to God. Nothing about who we are or what we’ve done. That’s why, to me, it’s so important to set a welcome table. Because I was invited to a table where someone said ‘Don’t be afraid, you’re loved.’ …Gay. Straight. It does not matter.”

If you believe that God has NO RULES, you can stop reading. You can stop being a Christian too. God doesn’t have any rules, so it makes no sense to follow any particular religion. The Satanists are fond of saying, “Do as thou wilt.” That’s a great motto for you. Go! Do unto others whatever you feel like.

But if you believe God has SOME rules that He wants us to obey, then pay close attention to what I am about to say. “You should know God’s rules so you can follow them.”

Now, you COULD look in the Bible to find out how you’re supposed to behave but God knows that you hate to read so He provided ANOTHER way for you to know the right thing to do. He gave you a conscience! Your conscience is what tells you to be afraid of God.

“John! How dare you say such a thing! God doesn’t want us to be afraid of Him!”

In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve broke God’s rule about eating from a certain tree. When God showed up later that day, Adam and Eve hid from Him. They were afraid of Him. Why? Because their consciences told them they had sinned. The awareness of sin made them afraid of God’s perfect righteousness. That fear was A BLESSING from God.

Be suspicious when you hear teaching like, “I was invited to a table where someone said ‘Don’t be afraid, you’re loved’…” When someone is afraid to “come to the table”, their conscience is bothering them. It is SINFUL to encourage people to ignore their conscience. God is speaking to them. You are interrupting. God doesn’t need your help communicating His love. He sent Jesus, remember?

Hang on…it gets worse…

You’re also a hypocrite. You refuse to condemn the popular sins. You only speak out against sins that win you cultural brownie points. Christian artists never say these phrases during an interview:

• ‘Don’t be afraid, you’re loved.’ …Racist. Homophobe. It does not matter.
• ‘Don’t be afraid, you’re loved.’ …Murderer. White Supremacist. It does not matter.
• ‘Don’t be afraid, you’re loved.’ …Rapist. Child Molester. It does not matter.

Rapists, child molesters, white supremacists, and murderers ALL have good reason to be afraid. They are breaking God’s rules and that will send them to Hell. (THIS IS THE PART YOU DON’T WANT TO THINK ABOUT) — Homosexuals are ALSO breaking God’s rules. You affirm their sin KNOWING that it will send them to Hell. If you think that’s “love”, your conscience is warped. Ask God for mercy. Ask Him to change your heart.

God’s rules come from His righteousness. Every time your conscience bothers you, it’s to remind you that God is good. Ignoring sin time after time will eventually dull your conscience. If you ever reach a point where your conscience doesn’t bother you, you’re doomed.
