Apparently, the Satanic Temple is suing an elementary school in Pennsylvania because they weren’t allowed to start an after school club. Some parents were outraged. Some school officials were worried. And the Satanists are happy that someone is paying attention to them.
Satanists are just atheists who figured out that atheism isn’t cool anymore. Twenty years ago, you could get credit for being an intellectual by just proclaiming your lack of belief in God. Ad hoc communities of godless folks dedicated themselves to the important work of sneering at religious folks. For a few years, atheists could participate in conversations with smart people without saying anything smart.
Pretty soon, the smart people figured out that atheism is of no use to civilization so they lost interest in hearing atheists talk. True intellectuals quit seeking the ‘atheist point of view’ because atheism doesn’t have a point of view. Atheists exist for the purpose of antagonizing religious people.
If you want to make a Satanist happy, get upset with her. When she asks to start a Satanic Club in your school, the highest compliment you can pay her is freaking out. She will be giddy that you are treating her stupid religion as though it matters. She hasn’t had anyone notice her in a long, long, time. Atheism doesn’t attract attention anymore but Satanism is making headlines!
Understand that the Satanists don’t want to start an after school club. They want to fight with you about their right to start an after school club. An opportunity to bring a lawsuit against the school is a tremendously generous gift. When you protest the Satan Club, you rescue the atheists from the abyss of irrelevance.
The best way to combat the Satanists is to let them start an after school club. Give them a classroom and let them openly promote their activities. That will put the After School Satan Club on equal footing with the chess club, the art club, and the After School Jesus Club. In less than 6 months, the After School Satan Club will cease to exist.
And remember, homeschool kids aren’t bothered by anything that happens in public school.
