For the record.
I believe the Christmas story.
…the one in the Bible, not the one about the kid and the BB gun.
(Though that’s a GREAT movie.)
I believe the Jesus story.
All of it.
A virgin conceived a child.
The child was born in a stable.
Angels flew around and freaked out the shepherds.
Some astronomers from other countries showed up to pay respects.
I think it’s all true.
It’s too outrageous to be false.
It takes tremendous gullibility to believe the Christmas story is fake.
I mean, you gotta believe the New Testament authors were idiots.
They’re fictional “God-man” story is lame, lame, lame!
They send the creator of the Universe to a barn.
His parents are peasants.
He is unrecognizable from every other kid on Earth.
This is NOT how you write mythology.
Harry Potter was attacked by a wizard while he was a baby and survived!
THAT’S how you write mythology!
You build legends by letting your readers know that your hero is special.
You don’t put your baby God character in a feed trough!
Nobody wants to worship a barnyard diety.
The only reasonable explanation for Jesus humble birth story is…
…it’s true.
I hear you shouting, “Virgins don’t get pregnant!”
Not very often, I’ll grant you that.
If they did, it would destroy the birth control industry!
If you’re having a hard time believing in the virgin birth then let me suggest…
…you’re a skeptical lightweight.
Bringing a baby out of a virgin is EASY compared to bringing a universe out of nothing.
God bless the faithful believers.
God bless the gullible skeptics.
God bless us every one.
Merry Christmas!

Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. Why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should visit me? When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy. You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.

  1. Finally got around to reading the entire Bible in my fifties. Two things occurred to me that helped convince me.
    1. The Bible answered lots of questions in the only way that makes sense.
    2. No human beings would have written it.

  2. Very true. The Christmas story is way too crazy to be made up. Along with what you already said, sending the Savior of the world inside of a nine-month pregnant teenager on the back of a donkey to ride through the treacherous Judean wilderness (about 80 miles of riding and walking) is just nutso! What was God thinking? 🙂

Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
