You hear a lot of stuff.
Some of it is true and some of it isn’t.
Determining what’s true and what’s false might be important to you.
Or, maybe not.
If the truth doesn’t matter, then thinking isn’t necessary.
Trust your gut.
Follow your heart.
Feeling good doesn’t require brain power.
Sadly, it’s harder to get to the truth.
You need to think a little bit.
If you’re willing to do that, I have an easy-to-remember phrase that will help you get started.
Why do you believe that?
Whenever somebody makes a statement, say that phrase.
Somebody: Heavy objects fall faster than lighter objects.
You: Why do you believe that?
Somebody: It’s obvious.
Indeed.
It seemed obvious for many years until somebody dropped a couple of different sized rocks.
Physics demonstrates the statement is incorrect.
I don’t think anyone is interested in seeing those equations.
You: Why do you believe that?
Okay. Very funny…ha ha.
You: Really. Why do you believe that?
Well, Physics equations are complicated and kind of confusing.
You: Why do you believe that?
I get the joke! That’s enough!
You: Why do you believe that Physics is confusing?
I haven’t studied Physics so I don’t understand the formulas, okay?
You: Why do you believe Physics formulas demonstrate heavy and light objects fall at the same speed?
For crying out loud…
The equation is referenced here!!
Acceleration due to gravity on Earth is 9.8 m/s^2.
You: Why do you believe this is true when you admitted you don’t understand the formulas?
I actually SAW THIS WITH MY OWN EYES!
I SAW a feather and a stone in side-by-side airless tubes.
Both objects fell and hit the bottom of their respective tube at the same time!
Satisfied??!!!
You: Why were the tubes airless?
…
See what happened?
You’re thinking!
Congratulations!
Keep it up.

Hey JB, what happened to The Recovering Know it all? I noticed he deleted his blog.
Guess he’s fully recovered.
I would change that to “HOW DO YOU KNOW the tubes were airless…”
Eventually, the answer is “faith.”
And…you’re thinking!
Tada!
