Honestly, the plight of transgender people isn’t a major concern for me. I spend almost no energy worrying about the legality of biological dudes invading women’s locker rooms or beating women senseless in brawls. That means I’m a heartless cur but it’s the way God made me and I’ve been told it’s wrong to judge.

Thinking about transgender stuff gives me a headache. I’ve tried (with all my heart) to feel how the allies tell me to feel. The woke advocates for the various marginalized groups keep telling me to “include” and “accept” and “celebrate” and “affirm” everyone; especially those who “live a different truth” than my own.

I’ve been told to “believe women”. The problem is, I haven’t been told what a woman is. When a trans-woman contradicts the original kind of woman (the kind with girl chromosomes and female physiology), who do I “believe”? What if some women don’t believe other women belong in women’s dressing rooms? (NOTE: That is not a rhetorical question.)

As I understand the situation, the most important virtue I should signal is either “tolerant inclusiveness” or “inclusive tolerance”. I’m free to believe “my truth” as long as I apologize for thinking “my truth” is “The Truth”. Arrogant people believe “their truth” is “actual truth” and that makes them absolutely intolerable.

“My truth” should be kept private as it is inappropriate to force “my truth” on the public. The only “truth” allowed in public is “relative truth”. “Relative truth” is “any truth” that is not “always true”. Also, it should NOT already be claimed as “my truth” by anybody. Once “relative truth” becomes “my truth”, it cannot be spoken in public less it conflict with “other’s truth” and cause “harm”.

It is never my intent to cause harm but that’s what happens when “my truth” is full of narrow-minded, toxic ideas like:

  • Biology determines gender.
  • Emotions do not determine gender.
  • Boys and girls should have separate bathrooms.
  • It’s selfish to expect society to conform to your personal desires.

So “my truth” is at odds with “other’s truth” and will “harm” anyone who learns “this truth” and comes to doubt “their truth”. I cannot hold “my truth” and “inclusively tolerate” “your truth” without causing harm. Who is harmed, you ask?

Me.

Believe it or not, I didn’t decide what to believe on a whim. I don’t hold these views to annoy you. I sincerely believe that some ideas are correct and some are incorrect. You won’t change my mind by yelling at me.

I believe God created everything and gives order to the universe. Male and female genders are assigned by our creator. We do not decide our gender any more than we decide how many thumbs to grow.

I don’t think I can know what it’s like to be woman. Any thoughts or emotions I experience I count as the thoughts and emotions of a male. Because I am a male. The notion that I’m experiencing “woman thoughts” or “girl feelings” is out of sync with my belief that God assigned my gender. He didn’t put me in a guy’s body and fill me with a woman’s spirit. I’m not even sure there is such a thing.

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

  1. So sad that the public hypocritically forces “their truth” on me. It is not even enough if I quietly disagree in private while keeping my mouth shut about it in public. They insist that I publicly endorse, embrace, affirm, celebrate, and worship “their truth”. But that ain’t gonna happen.

  2. Well said. A man who dresses as a woman and insists on being referred to with traditionally feminine pronouns seems to be the only person left on the planet allowed to hold the belief that it makes a difference what sex or gender one is.
    I’m mystified.
