My research team informed me that it’s been 17 days since I’ve posted something that tests the goodwill of my readers so I’m going to offer my thoughts on the baby formula shortage.

Because there will be several readers who need me to say this outright: “I am a huge fan of babies and fully support feeding them.” I don’t think a baby formula shortage is a good thing and I’m quite firm on that position. I have nothing against formula.

What troubles me about the shortage is not the possibility of mass starvation among American infants. I’m not worried that babies won’t be fed because God built a feeding system into mothers. As far fetched as it seems, a mother can successfully feed a baby without any artificial supplements. I’ve seen it done! I’ve witnessed it many times. Currently, I have nine (that’s 9!) fat grandbabies who serve as evidence to the effectiveness of breastfeeding.

(Here is where several readers will offer their anecdotal tales of breastfeeding failures as some kind of proof that God’s method of feeding babies isn’t trustworthy. I’m not going to address their complaints because there is zero chance that those people are going to agree with any of the other points in this post.)

The most troubling aspect of this formula shortage is the number of people, both progressive and conservative, crying out to the government to fix the “problem.” I’m used to hearing Democrats wailing about death. Those folks commit suicide if they can’t get a cake made to their specifications or if someone tells them gender biological. The hand sanitizer shortage almost wiped them out a few years ago so I’m not surprised to hear that this formula shortage is an extinction event.

I’m annoyed by the Republicans accusing Joe Biden of starving babies. We don’t need Republicans who say exactly the same things as the Democrats. When Fox News has the same point of view as MSNBC, you might as well listen to MSNBC because their hysterical hand-wringing is far more entertaining.

If it’s true that our President has the power to starve your baby, then you shouldn’t be trying to care for a baby. Give the child to a grandparent, neighbor, a pack of wolves, or a female gorilla. Anyone with a modicum of creativity or resourcefulness is better suited to raise your child.

Formula is a convenience. It shouldn’t be a necessity. When the fate of your child is determined by a product recall, you are unfit to parent. Good grief, what if there was a diaper shortage? Is your kid gonna sit belly-deep in poo until the government fixes the supply chain?

Did you know there are millions of people living on Earth who’ve never had a sip of formula? It’s true! You’re skeptical because the same ‘experts’ who strapped masks on toddlers told you that formula is essential for your baby’s health. Do you know who benefits the most from baby formula? The people who sell baby formula.

Suppose I told you that the taco stand where I eat my meals was closing. You think I should petition congress for Mexican cuisine but I’m just going to eat something else. Your baby needs you to follow my example.

(Matthew 6:31) “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

  1. We are great grandparents now, but I need to tell you that back in OUR day, those moms who chose to bottle feed, only had babies on formula for about 2-3 months, at which time we gradually put them to whole milk. Of course, whole milk was our only choice at that time, but whole milk is still the best choice for kids even today. Having babies on formula for a whole year was unheard of back then.
My question is why we have babies on formula for a whole year now……is that possibly why we have a lot of overweight young people today? Maybe, maybe not. Is having babies on formula for that extended period of time more for the benefit of the formula companies than our babies?
My next concern is the fact that our baby formula is now coming from other countries. That would be a concern for me if It were my baby. Do their health standards meet ours?
So my suggestion to moms that are affected by this formula shortage, switch to whole milk (if baby is 2-3 moths old) and all will be fine. Plus, the cost will be much less.
