Feminism is a things that I’ve heard some Christian women say we need. These women believe that women aren’t being treated well enough in regular, old, New Testament Christianity so they’re looking to secular philosophy to create a more fair and equitable kingdom of God.
I mean no disrespect when I say this but, ladies, that’s a terrible idea.
Feminist Christians insist that they don’t agree with some of the tenets of feminism. They just agree with ‘some’ of the feminist doctrines. They think the feminists are correct when they say stuff like, “Men and women are equal in God’s eyes.” And while that is true, it isn’t the feminists who said that first. It was God.
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Ephesians 5:21
but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.
Romans 2:10
Adding feminist doctrine to Christianity doesn’t give you any new benefits. It just messes up your Christian doctrine.
Feminism changes the faith. A feminist bible wouldn’t look much like the actual bible. If Mary had been a feminist, Luke 1 would look different.
Luke 1:46-55
And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies females everywhere
my spirit rejoices in womanhood.
God is mindful now
of my empowered gender.
From now on all generations will call me brave.
For the Mighty One has sought to objectify me
but the patriarchy has not prevailed.
His tyranny shall not subjugate me.
His mighty arm does not own my body.
My pride will not be scattered by misogyny.
My womb is my own.
Though He wills I conceive,
There is more for me than mere motherhood.
To Abraham and his descendants I proclaim:
Nay! I’ll not be thy doormat!”
Ladies, don’t be too quick to say, “Amen!”
