I’ve got a question for all you rowdy, pro-family, Christian-value, conservatives. Do you remember when Caitlyn Jenner was on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine? I do! And I remember that you weren’t cheering about it. As I recall, you were NOT sold out to the idea that men become women via hormone treatment and surgery. Didn’t you go so far as to actually say that despite the fawning attention given to the transition into a “true self,”; Caitlyn Jenner was still a guy?

Yes. I’m sure you said something like that.

You also suggested that Jenner suffers from some kind of disorder. We could debate what to call the condition but a few minutes ago, when the world was applauding the cover of Vanity Fair, you knew something was “off.” In your words, the cover photo depicted a person who “needs help.”

I’m not mistaken, am I? Because I remember agreeing with you. You and I were on the same page. People are assigned their gender by God himself and He doesn’t make mistakes. We agreed that a male identifying as a female is folly akin to a man identifying as a houseplant or a wombat.

Yet, here you are quoting Caitlyn Jenner on the topic of men competing against women in sports. The person who, just moments ago, you described as unstable and possibly even deranged, has now become your spokesperson! Jenner went from ‘sad, tortured soul’ to ‘fount of wisdom’ by simply repeating YOUR talking points.

You’re getting duped, my friend. Notice the pronouns Jenner used to refer to the MALE swimmer. “HER hands are bigger…HER respiratory system is bigger…” Allowing Jenner to speak for you requires agreement with the premise that men really do become women. Caitlyn Jenner is NOT on your side. You have switched sides and you don’t even know it!

Don’t believe the lie that Jenner’s opinion carries more weight because of his (yes, that’s the correct pronoun, if you’re uncomfortable with it—that’s my point) transgender status. Jenner’s delusion that he is a woman doesn’t make him more qualified to speak about women in sports. I would argue that transgender status completely disqualifies him from participating in the conversation.

Getting angry with me doesn’t change the truth of what I’m saying. I know it’s difficult to admit hypocrisy because I’ve personally had to admit hypocrisy many times. It is not okay to ally yourself with darkness when you agree with the words coming from the abyss. Pray for wisdom!
