The story of the crucifixion is familiar to most Christians.

The travesty of justice has been the source of countless outraged sermons.

For generations, Christ has been the picture of punished innocence.

“He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.” – Isaiah 53:7

The frustrated Roman authority admitted outright there was no basis for any criminal charges.

Then sentenced Jesus to death.

And the crowd cheered.

Fast forward a couple thousand years.

Imagine Jesus brought before a congressional committee.

He is accused of awful things.

The frustrated committee members beg the accusers for evidence of crimes.

There is nothing.

Not a shred of evidence to support the charges.

Our law is more sophisticated than first-century, mob-style justice.

Christians rejoice!

Jesus will get a fair trial in America!

Innocent until proven guilty will save the life of the Son of God, right?

Wrong.

The mob is angry.

Christians are angry.

Driven by a barbaric, twisted concept of righteousness, the church calls for blood.

“Believe her! Believer her! Believe her!”

Congress asks, “What would you have me do with Jesus?”

We are too civilized to call for crucifixion.

We’re so much better than the godless Romans.

“Strip him of honor and cast him away!”

“Destroy his reputation! Let his name be accursed forever!”

I don’t want to be misunderstood.

So I will make my point as clear as I know how.

Brett Kavanaugh is not Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ was condemned for crimes he did not commit.

Jesus Christ was condemned by people who professed to be righteous followers of God.

So, my righteous, redeemed, brothers and sisters…

If you doubt that you would be among those calling for Jesus crucifixion, answer this question:

“What would you have us do with Brett Kavanaugh?”

  1. Save him!

I most identify with one of the women weeping at the Via Dolorosa.

While I’m not a huge fan of Lindsey Graham, his comments about what his colleagues were trying to pull were appropriate.

I’m a woman who has experienced some awful stuff. If I were a crazed patsy, easily swayed by media and propaganda, I might have been a moron shouting to crucify him. However, I’m not. I was strongly influenced by Woodward and Bernstein during the Watergate scandal, and a political science professor, who opened my eyes to manipulation tactics by both politicians and the media, and how to think critically for myself.

There is so much I could write…

Ford is not a poster child for purity nor believability.

There is a great deal about Ford that is not being discussed in the media. I’m going to paste in a small portion. Once I do, my dumb smartphone wont let me edit, so please forgive an unfinished post:

Her history was carefully sanitized, but I did get a chance to see her yearbook pictures (R-rated, spread out in come-hither poses, mostly naked wearing a thong, beer bottle at her head) a real poster-girl for purity and believability, not. No wonder she couldn’t remember how she got to the alleged party in 1982.

She also has worked as director of biostatistics, and written papers for the pharmaceutical company Corcept Therapuetics, that used her work to promote sales of its abortion drug (mifepristone aka RU-486). They have annual sales of $216 million. The company itself is worth @ $166 billion.
The company would have a lot to lose if a judge were nominated to the Supreme Court who just might reverse Roe vs Wade.

There are a lot of companies in bed with the D.C. swamp creatures.

    1. …also, she was not courageous in coming forward. She had originally requested anonymity, which she was promised. She also said she was too afraid of flying, so she couldn’t testify in person. (Refuted – she flies to all kinds of locations on exotic vacations.)

Feinstein wanted a public show (she has a lot of motivation for that) to crucify Kavanaugh, and threw Ford under the bus to get it. Graham was willing to fly out to Ford to get her statement, and notified her lawyers. That didn’t fit with the show Feinstein wanted, so the lawyers never told Ford about Graham’s gracious offer, forcing her into a public display to whip up a media and mob frenzy.

Several other anonymous letters were sent to the committee, alleging misconduct by Kavanaugh.
One was unsigned, undated, vague and not credible. It was leaked to NBC, who published it. Another was written by a boyfriend on behalf of his “girlfriend” who said she was mishandled by Kavanaugh on a boat. That, too, was released. The FBI visited the guy who wrote the letter, and returned saying it was fabricated- all lies.

  2. I’m frustrated, mostly by people’s insistence that sexual abuse never goes away, it impacts your entire life, and leaves you permanently dysfunctional. That’s a terrible message to send to survivors of abuse who are actually thriving. In faith it is especially appalling to hear this because Jesus heals, in Christ we are a new creation. The old things can pass away. Jesus was actually tortured, crucified, and hung naked on a cross, so on top of everything else, a total sexual violation. But on the third day He rose. He was victorious and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. We can now do the same.

    1. THANK YOU for saying this!!!

Telling people they will always be damaged by [insert traumatic event*] is the DEFINITION of dis-empowerment. Where’s the hope and faith?

During my postpartum depression, I’m convinced it was the Holy Spirit himself who counseled me to seek out stories of women who have FULLY RECOVERED, because I knew it would be very easy to snowball with fear and self-fulfilling prophecies of lifelong therapy/medication. When I heard people talking about battling their issue FOR DECADES, they almost always included statements like, “I’ll never be 100% better.” It made me wonder why I should listen to their advice…?

By God’s grace, I found the testimony of a woman who went through an unbelievably traumatic event with a child who nearly died and postpartum psychosis which made her whole family think she’d be committed to the looney bin…but she came out the other side BETTER and STRONGER, and even decided to get pregnant again as an act of faith.

Anyway, all that to say, I fully agree that being violated–emotionally, psychologically, or physically–doesn’t HAVE to leave anyone dysfunctional.

      1. Yes, there’s nothing that builds character better than a good rape. Makes one BETTER and STRONGER, especially if you rely on an immaterial spirit to help you along. Kids, take note, and don’t hold it against the Churches who wrecked your lives.

Then again, Sarah: maybe it’s better to have illusions, if it helps you to deal with the misfortunes of this life.

        1. There are millions of people who will tell you that horrible experiences can be positive.

It’s a problem, though, when you can’t even begin to define “better” because you’re floating in a directionless void. You can’t justify being angry at anyone for “wrecking your life” without appealing to something beyond materialism. If you want any sympathy you’ll have to explain where your idea of right and wrong comes from.

  3. If the witnesses that SHE gave the names of refute, not don’t remember or aren’t sure, REFUTE, her claims. How can anyone say she has credible accusations?

  4. I watched a little of the hearings the other day and was struck by the man named Booker who said more than once Dr. Ford came forward to tell “her truth” it may seem like a small thing but those words caused me to pause and ask what happened to “the truth”. If this new investigation proves he is innocent my guess is that it still won’t be accepted by some.

  5. I feel bad for Brett Kavanaugh, is he truly innocent? Does he not remember? Is he trying to make this “go away”? Only a hand full of people know for sure. What I can tell you however, is what it is like being a survivor of sexual abuse. It NEVER goes away….you live with it your whole life and it makes you disfunctional in one way or another. Dr Ford said that she is 100% sure that Brett Kavanaugh is guilty of sexually assaulting her. I can tell you that I am 100% sure of who sexually assaulted me. He NEVER left my life….he has been with me for 40 years…it isn’t something that EVER goes away!! Brett Kavanaugh has done a lot of good with his life and if he is truly innocent, I hope the FBI can prove that. If he is guilty, then it is time for him to pay the piper!

    1. Hey, Marya, Ms. Ford also said she was unsure of where and when it occurred. Who on Earth says, “I’m not sure when or where it happened, but I know THAT man scarred me for life!” Do you find that plausible that the day and place has slipped her mind if she was really as traumatized as she claims? Or that some details of her story has changed even in the past week if she’s telling the truth? Or that she decided to ignore the fact that it happened until it looked like the Democrats couldn’t find any reason to reject him? Does anything about her story seem plausible to you?
