A billionaire hurled money out the window of his limousine as it passed.

Suddenly, the limousine became a high speed train which then became a time portal.

I stepped through the portal into 2030.

America was a different place.

A better place!

There were no borders.

Everywhere I looked immigrant children laughed and played.

Their skin was transparent making it impossible to know their ethnicity.

Nobody spoke the same language.

Except love!

They just loved and danced and laughed and played.

It was beautiful!

Buildings were made from compressed air and moon beams.

Cows didn’t fart.

People didn’t either.

Human beings were nourished by political ideology.

We didn’t eat plants or animals.

Our bodies turned good intentions into calories.

I stretched out my wings and soared into the sky.

(The law required airline companies provide wings for every person on Earth as penance for climate change.)

I looked to the East and saw Washington D.C. glowing like a star.

Beings of pure light moved gracefully through streets paved with gold.

These were politicians lovingly serving us.

Tirelessly setting policies that made the very forces of nature do their bidding.

I marveled aloud, “How is this possible?”

The politicians laughed in unison.

“Just enjoy the dream,” they replied.

Then I woke up.

And loathed myself for doing so.
