As long as you allow your pastor, teacher, elder, or other alleged spiritual leaders to get away with saying stuff like this, they will continue to say stuff like this and you will continue to be a blight of the world rather than a light of the world.
Let’s replace the word ‘abortion’ with something else and see if your confidence in the statement holds up.
“Personally choosing not to own slaves or sell humans…is religious freedom. Making that choice for someone else, on the basis of one’s own religious principles, is religious oppression.”
Do you still like your theology? Not sure? There are LOTS of other examples:
“Personally choosing not to throw tacos at passing vehicles…is religious freedom…”
“Personally choosing not to rob banks or gas stations…is religious freedom…”
“Personally choosing not to rape or abuse women …is religious freedom…”
If you haven’t caught on to the problem yet, stop reading and move on. You are depraved and cannot be reached with reason. God himself is going to need to act on your cold, dead heart.
If you don’t get it yet, and you are a leader at a church, you should immediately resign. Don’t argue. Just do it.
More importantly, if you attend a church with leaders who don’t see the problem, you should immediately tell them to resignation. Remove these people from their positions of authority. Anyone who sees restrictions on murder as ‘religious oppression’ shouldn’t even be allowed to eat with God’s people, let alone deliver sermons to you!
This unholy message of death will continue to flourish in your church as long as you keep showing up to listen. Pro-murder pastors should see empty pews on Sunday morning. Your tolerance of false teachers is not part of the problem, it’s the WHOLE problem.
(1 Timothy 6:3) “If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.”
