This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine! (Sing with me! You know the words!) This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!
Sunlight, nightlight, candle; there are many options for illumination. Everyone should decide which light is right for your family. When I want to see things, I prefer a really bright light, but I’m not against candles!
Water, beer, turpentine; there are many options for hydration. Everyone should decide which beverage is right for your family. When I provide liquid for my kids, I try to avoid poisons but I’m not against drinking toxic chemicals!
Cat, clam, grizzly bear; there are many options for pets. Every parent should decide what animal is right for your family. When I allowed my kids to get pets, I wouldn’t let them pick creatures that were likely to kill and eat them but I’m not against man-eating carnivores!
Walking, crawling, rolling; there are many options for moving around. Every parent should decide the right way for your family. I decided to help my children learn to walk but I’m not against rolling!
Speaking, babbling, grunting and pointing; there are many options for communicating. Every parent should decide what’s right for your family. I decided to teach my kids a language so they could express themselves effectively but I’m not against grunts and hand gestures.
Jesus Christ, Allah, Buddha (or any of a thousand others); there are many religious options. Every parent should decide which religion is right for your family. I actively influenced my kids to adopt my faith because I believe Christianity is true but I’m not against leaving your kids alone and hoping they figure it out themselves!
Homeschool, private school, secular school; there are many options for educating your kids. Every parent should decide what’s right for your family. I decided that it would be hard for my kids to maintain their Christian faith if they were surrounded every day by peers, teachers, and curriculum that did not share our values but I’m not against secular schools!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let is shine! But I’m NOT suggesting that my little light should be YOUR little light. I’m only doing what’s right for me! You should do what’s right for you. I won’t judge, criticize, or assist you in any way.
Hope to see you in church on Sunday!
“In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.” He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
(Luke 14:33)
