I recently commented in a vegan group and accidentally unleashed a flood of animal rights propaganda into my Facebook feed. Before the surge, I was aware of the anti-carnivore movement but viewing the propaganda has helped me better appreciate the awful consequences of worshiping creation instead of the Creator.

There may be a handful of vegans on the planet who abstain from consuming animal products strictly for health purposes. But for most vegans their diet is a religious ritual. Plants provide them not only vitamins but spiritual purity. When they aren’t eating plants, vegans are telling the rest of us that we’re sadistic, black-hearted monsters because we eat things that aren’t plants.

If you believe the propaganda, vegans know the thoughts of animals. A vegan fancies herself a real life “Dr. Doolittle” who fluidly speaks the language of creatures great and small. She passionately assures us that animals are full of the same hopes and dreams as people. Therefore, according to Ms. Doolittle, animals have the same ‘rights’ as people.

There was a time when I could dismiss the vegans as harmless imbeciles. Back when most Americans were capable of reasoning, the country could withstand the boisterous rantings of a few fringe lunatics. But times have changed.

The lunatics are now a protected class. The opinions of our most ruthless and insane citizens have more influence than the ideas of thoughtful intellects. We are, quite literally, allowing children to decide their gender. It doesn’t seem impossible that soon we’ll be allowing cows to decide where they want to live. We’ll be installing special doors on the courthouse so pigs can access the legal system. We’ll issue drivers licenses to dogs and cats.

Perhaps I’m overreacting. I hope so, but I doubt it. I have a great deal of faith in the power of depravity. The human mind, separated from the influence of God, is capable of astounding evil. I mean, what else explains how millions of mothers can declare the children in their wombs aren’t human? Only a society of lunatics can simultaneously give human rights to animals and kill babies because they aren’t human.

People are made in God’s image. Animals are not. Despite the rantings of vegans, people are superior to animals. When we abandon our status among the other creatures, we descend into madness.

If you want to eat vegetables because they’re healthy, go right ahead. If you want me to eat vegetables because it’s immoral to eat a burger, ask God to restore your sanity.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

(Genesis 1:28)

  1. I started a kerfuffle on Facebook a few years ago by honestly asking a question of vegetarians/vegans. I asked those who don’t eat meat because they conside it immoral if they eat meat substitutes. If so, how do they justify pretending to do something they consider immoral. I was honestly curious. Oh, boy, did that irritate some people.

Never did get a reasonable answer.
