This occurred to me while watching David Wood debate Michael Shermer.
(A video I can’t urge you strongly enough to not watch…)
For no reason, energy and matter began to exist.
For no reason, single cells began to live.
For no reason, single cells divided into multi-cellular life.
For no reason, multi-cellular life diversified.
For no reason, some lifeforms became conscious.
For no reason, consciousness developed into intelligence.
For no reason, humans are more intelligent than the other lifeforms.
For no reason, imagination arose within humans.
For no reason, curiosity arose within humans.
Intelligence, imagination, and curiosity lead to the invention of Science.
And Science is used to explain:
THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING
The problem being there is no reason for anything.
Science has nothing to discover.
But if intelligence existed BEFORE the universe…
…then THAT is the REASON that energy and matter began to exist.
(Kind of like ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and Earth…’)
And that is the REASON that science works.
Neat, huh?
One Response
I completely agree with you JB – although I’m certain that your reasoning is unreasonable.
