This may be my favorite science article of all time.
It’s 3000 words long but I can sum it up in four.
Scientists have great faith.
Think Big boiled the article down to its essential condescension.

Let me express my “Opinion” here, capitalized as the atheists do, David P. Barash is from my neck of the woods, and heavily into evo/psych. He’s really an evolutionary biologist, but married to a psychologist which apparently credentials him in psychology too. His claim to fame is actually mostly about advocating that humans are not monogamous and that polygamy is actually good for us. His latest is actually called “Out of Eden” and he is heralded not so much as a “scientist,” but mysteriously, “a great moralist.” He’s also written others, all along various religious themes, “Through a Glass Brightly” and “Buddhist Biology.”
That does give a different perspective. No wonder he leans toward the “we’ll change all of this later on if we have to” kind of science.
None of IBs comment sounded like “opinion.”
You listed facts, IB! Tell us what you think of Barash! Are you guys going for coffee later? 😉
The backlash against learning comes from atheists. Try to publish a paper that even dares to Question evolution or big bang, let alone actually deny them and your career is over no matter how solid your argument or evidence. You’re not allowed to ask certain questions or acknowledge certain facts. Atheism is essentially it’s own cult. The leaders speak and we are to listen and obey even if they contradict themselves or each other. Even in this article you posted, we are told to have faith in science- not only in spite of it changing, but Because it’s changing. And changing faster than ever! Why would any thinking person choose the unchanging word of God over the rapidly changing word of Bill Nye? The Great and Powerful Nye has spoken. Again. But This time, he’s REALLY got the answers! (For now…)
Great critique of article by a bad writer/awful website (from what I’ve seen so far) full of dumb assumptions.
They’ve fallen OFF the shoulders of giants, contrary to Newton’s quote included in Aeon’s latest article. (Btw, a professor really got after me for adding that little piece of oft-quoted crap in a paper. Learned very quickly not to add extraneous fluff to articles meant for publication in science publications.)
The “great Bill Nye”? What a bunch of crock!
Loved your comments, including the hypothetical great-great grandmother’s microwave meatloaf recipe. 😂
I grieve the dumbing down, lack of ethics training, the loss of critical thinking skills that I’m seeing in our schools, labs and culture.
Sugar? I personally take the “use sparingly/in moderation” approach (except for ice cream during a heat wave) since it can explosively fuel cancer growth, and do other well-known nasty things… Sugar is way better than most diet substitutes, though, that do even more damage while breaking down into toxic substances in the body – i.e. aspertame breaking down into methanol then formaldehyde – which your friend Daren Streblow is allergic to 😂.
(Stevia, honey, agave, coconut sugar, non-gmo rice syrup, etc… are ok alternatives, again in moderation.)
(But this information may change 😂)
