May be an image of sky and text that says 'Love is not something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between two people when it exists within each one of them- we can only love others as much as we love ourselves. -Brené Brown Sharon Κ. Brayfield, Personal Coach Living Life With Passion TM'

If you’re not a Christian, you are free to post foolish memes about “love” that teach gullible people bad theology which ultimately wrecks their lives. One of the perks of being on the path to destruction is zero accountability for telling lies. The reward for being a false teacher is praise from students you’re leading to Hell. Enjoy your reward!

If you’re a Christian, you’ve been bought by Jesus so you are no longer a slave to sin. That means, you don’t get to spew toxic doctrine on social media. You have to speak the truth and most folks are gonna hate your guts because of it. Don’t be surprised. Those folks hated Jesus too.

False teachers love “love” with all their hearts. They sing songs, write poems, create movies, publish books, and produce endless propaganda on a subject they know nothing about. False teachers disguise selfishness by calling it “love.”

Christians know that God is love. Any useful understanding of love requires God be credited as the source. Without God, there can be no love (There can’t be anything else either but let’s not get distracted). The statement, “Love is not something we give or get” is absurd. It’s incoherent. It’s poppy-cock. Love, is something mankind WAS GIVEN by our maker. God loved us first, before we were even born. We GET love from God.

So love was never “cultivated between two people when it existed in each of us.” Love is a one-way transaction. It flows FROM God TO us. It doesn’t usually go the other direction. Most of the time, we don’t love God back. We blame God for all the stuff we don’t like. We never say ‘thank you’ for the stuff we like. We don’t even appreciate God for loving us.

The false teachers convinced us that “self love” is a crucial step to loving others. Nowhere in the Bible will you find a commandment to love yourself. You will find LOTS of bible verses encouraging you to love others by moving yourself out of the #1 position on your priority list. You’ll even be told that your self needs to die. Your self doesn’t deserve love. Your self deserves death.

Love doesn’t start with pampering yourself. A massage and seaweed mud-wrap at the day spa won’t teach you to love others. Taking a break to “recharge your batteries” isn’t necessarily wrong but neither is it a virtuous act of selfless love. Stop believing God is calling you to a ministry of self-care. There is no such ministry.

Jesus lived out God’s definition of love. It costs something. It cost Christ everything. At no point did He ever say, “We can only love others as much as we love ourselves.” If you’re a Christian, you need to stop believing and sharing this drivel.

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.”

(John 15:13)
