It can sometimes be difficult to recognize satire now that our culture has gone insane. The following article was intended to be so ‘over the top’ outrageous that it would be immediately understood as parody. But I doubt my ability to exaggerate. I’m afraid that if I don’t label this as satire, it will be adopted as official policy for some public school boards.

So…this is satire.

Goodness, gracious the school teachers in Utah are getting dissed and they don’t much like it. According to an article I read in the Salt Lake Tribune, a bunch of teachers are thinking about quitting their jobs because they’re not feeling any love.

“Heidi Matthews, president of the Utah Education Association, said 93% of her members  are looking at quitting the profession after the current school year. It’s not just the bad pay, which has always been a given for teachers in Utah, but the overt levels of disrespect from lawmakers, activists and far too many parents — most of whom are clueless about what goes on in a school from day to day.”

Gee, I wonder what would cause so many people to suddenly start disrespecting the public school teachers?

Since most everyone is clueless about what goes on in a school, any criticism is probably just ignorance on the part of the non-teacher. These are simple folks who don’t understand the sophisticated processes of teaching. The disrespect is just the consequence of dimwitted parents talking about concepts that are over their heads.

There is no way those moronic parents could have something legitimate to criticize. They aren’t professional educators! Some of them didn’t even graduate from high school so their opinions about what’s best for their kids don’t count.

It’s disturbing when parents insert themselves into their children’s education process. School is too important to let amateurs participate. The best way to ensure a bright future for our children is to turn them over to government employees and then STAY OUT OF THE WAY! As one Utah teacher so eloquently put it, “Shut up and let us teach!”

Questioning teachers is highly disrespectful. Besides, parents are not smart enough to ask good questions anyway. You need to know your place. Put your kids on the bus and let the pros program their minds. If you care about your kids, you’ll hand them over to the system.

“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”

  1. John, as with all good comedy, there need to be the nugget of truth to be funny! The teachers that you are addressing are spouting the same mantra as many in our medical community…. “how dare you question us when we demand you inject foreign, untested, substances into your body. We are the professionals, we know what’s best”.
To these Utah teachers: It’s really not in your best interest, and will not garner respect for you, or your profession as a whole, when you demean the ones who pay your salary.

  2. They don’t even want to hear another opinion. No suggestions, no helpfulness, no nothing. My room, my rules. Their motto, Teachers Rule. I don’t remember voting for them, or the unions that whip them into a frenzy. We should charge THEM rent and user fees for all the opportunities we provide them to screech their spiel. Curious to know if they teach their own what they want to teach ours?
