So spot on. One: It’s only alleged that he said it. The people who were in the meeting can’t even agree that it was said. Two: The whole point of a closed door meeting is so that people can express themselves without repercussions. So if we should be offended about anything, it should be the people that “leaked” an alleged comment. Three: Let’s take a step back from what was supposedly said and try to figure out why a person would ever “leak” the comment to begin with. Can we figure out any positive reason for doing so? No. The only thing to be gained by telling the public about a comment that wasn’t meant for the public ears (that’s the point of closed door meetings) is to divide the country more, get other countries even more angry; and, could it be, that because it looked like the democrats and republicans were actually going to work together and maybe fix DACA and do some immigration reform (and that might make Trump look good) that someone had to sabotage that and get the American people and the world looking in a different direction. Perhaps the only way to insure that they didn’t have to work together was to create something that everyone could be appalled by and escape the consequences of once again failing to do the work they were elected to do in the first place.
I really wish that we would stop jumping on the medias agenda and allowing them to blow things like this up and instead stop and question the motivation behind it. Why is the original source anonymous? If it was really that important, why won’t they put their name to it? What is the possible outcomes of what is coming out? Take it with a grain of salt until it is proven. (Does anyone remember that we are suppose to treat people as if they are innocent until proven guilty?)
So everyone who has never so much as had thoughts involving such vile language, raise your hand. Now slap yourself for lying. 🙂
One thing far worse than our language is the false virtue signaling and dishonesty we display when we try to pretend our delicate sensibilities have been so offended.
